The City of College Park is seeking a Sanitation Laborer to support its Public Works Department by collecting refuse citywide. The role emphasizes safety, reliability, and customer service while maintaining a positive image of the city and department.

Responsibilities include driving a rear-loading sanitation truck on assigned routes, performing routine maintenance and cleaning, training new laborers, and reporting issues to supervision.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• At least three (3) years of related experience; equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid State of Georgia (Class B) CDL license.
• Experience in communicating with diverse communities and maintaining cooperative working relationships.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite and understanding of organizational structure and procedures.
• Extensive hours and weekends may be required.
• Pre-Employment screening including criminal background check and drug testing.

• Ensures truck is properly cleaned, serviced, equipped, and in proper operating order before leaving on the route.
• Instructs new Sanitation Laborers in proper and safe refuse collection procedures.
• Performs other related duties as required.
• The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that logically relate to the position.

A successful candidate will play an active role in the City of College Park’s existing operational success. The purpose of this position is to collect refuse throughout the City, which reflects a positive image of the Public Works Department and the City, and it ensures a clean and safe environment for all customers and citizens.Independent judgment is required to identify, select and apply the most appropriate of available guidelines and procedures as well as interpret precedents.
