Job summary

Simmons Foods in Edgerton, KS is seeking a Sanitation Worker to clean processing areas and equipment, following approved procedures and safety rules.

Duties include cleaning with high pressure hoses, brooms, and PPE while ensuring quality and on-time start of production. The role emphasizes teamwork, adherence to Best Practices, and company policies.

Shift: B1 - Sun-Tues 6p-6a, Wed 6p-12a. Veterans are welcome. Poultry/food processing experience preferred.

Job description

To sanitize and clean processing area and equipment, following guidelines of Simmons Foods and government regulations.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Cleans and sanitizes equipment and work areas using handheld high pressure cleaning hoses and equipment, broom, squeegee or hands.
  • Ensures the equipment and work areas are cleaned in a manner consistent with established requirements.
  • Clean and sanitize work areas and equipment according to established time constraints and quality standards to allow production to begin on time.
  • Follows guidelines for proper use and safety of chemicals and equipment.

Participates as a member of the Team . Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members.Attends appropriate team meetings.As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.

Simmons Operating systems principles and objectives: Is familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position's role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.

Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives: This position description is intended to guide the activities of the Sanitation Worker and is not intended to limit the thinking and creativity of the person to the work of this function nor is it intended that this describe all the work that may be required of the person in this position.

Physical Activities: Be able to efficiently work in a plant environment.Regularly required to stand, reach and move about the facility.Light to moderate physical effort required.W ork in temperature extremes. work in a wet, noisy environment.Lift and carry up to 50 pounds of equipment or supplies anywhere from floor to above shoulder level. Walk up and down ladders, climb into small tight spaces.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Will use water resistant/slip resistant footwear, eye protection, gloves, apron, hearing protection, hair net(s) and other protective equipment as needed or required.

Technical Experience: N/A

Industry Experience: Preference for poultry or food processing organization.

Preferred Education : N/A
