Job summary

Anthropic is hiring for a role at the intersection of Linux systems programming and sandboxing infrastructure. You will help design and run the sandboxing layer used by Claude, with focus on fast startup, isolation, and scalable performance across many concurrent sessions.

You will collaborate with research, product, and security teams to ensure safe, reliable, and high-performance execution environments for AI workloads and agents.

Qualifications

• Experience in Linux systems programming or kernel development.
• Proficiency in at least one systems language (Rust, C, C++, Go).
• Knowledge of virtualization/container isolation tech (KVM, QEMU, Firecracker, gVisor, runc).
• Understanding of Linux namespaces, cgroups, scheduling, memory management.
• Experience profiling and debugging system-level performance issues.
• Ability to learn unfamiliar codebases and ship practical solutions.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate sandboxing infrastructure for untrusted code and agent workloads at scale.
• Improve sandbox startup time, density, throughput, and warm pools.
• Strengthen isolation across compute, filesystem, and network with per-session credentials.
• Investigate and fix performance, reliability, and security issues at kernel/hypervisor/container runtime level.
• Build monitoring, tracing, and debugging tools to attribute latency and resource use.
• Collaborate with researchers to support RL environments and evaluations needing fast, isolated execution.
• Expose sandboxes as dependable capabilities for Claude products and customers; partner with security teams on threat-modeling.
• Work with cloud providers on hardware/platform features our workloads depend on.
• Share knowledge on systems programming and Linux internals and help set technical standards.
