Job summary

Anthropic is seeking a Sanctions Compliance Lead to own the sanctions program end-to-end and support export controls. You will set strategy, govern screening and enforcement, coordinate with Legal and senior leadership, and guide the growing compliance team in a fast-moving AI safety-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Substantive, hands-on experience leading an economic sanctions compliance program.
• Experience managing voluntary self-disclosures and regulator filings end to end.
• Experience governing a restricted-party screening program.
• Experience with US export controls (EAR/BIS) and global regimes.
• Experience partnering with counsel to interpret trade controls requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead Anthropic's sanctions compliance program, including strategy, risk appetite, policy frameworks, and roadmap.
• Represent the sanctions and export controls function with senior leadership and cross-functional partners.
• Assess sanctions risk across products, channels, and markets; drive remediation and enhancements.
• Direct regulator-facing matters and respond to inquiries in partnership with counsel.
• Govern restricted-party screening, including list scope, thresholds, and vendor management.
• Escalate complex sanctions matters and set disposition standards for first-line teams.
• Advise business teams on sanctions implications of expansion, new products, and channels.
• Support export controls program priorities and reporting with leadership and counsel.
• Prepare program health reports for I&C, Legal, Audit Committee.
