Job summary

The Southern California Learning Corporation is seeking educators to deliver high-quality, in-home one-on-one instruction. The role focuses on Math, ELA/Writing, and test prep with Sylvan’s structured programs and customized support.

You will work independently in students’ homes and coordinate with an Academic Advisor to record session notes. Starting at $35/hour based on experience, with flexible scheduling and consistent student placements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field is required.
• 2+ years tutoring or teaching experience.
• Strong proficiency in high school math or ELA/Writing.
• Experience with SAT/ACT test prep strongly preferred.
• Ability to work independently and communicate professionally.

Responsibilities

The service combines Sylvan’s structured learning programs with individualized academic support tailored to each student. We are seeking educators who are comfortable working independently, can adapt to a range of academic needs, and can represent Sylvan with professionalism in a home setting.

What You’ll Do

• Support students in Math (Algebra through Calculus), ELA/Writing, and/or Test Prep (SAT/ACT)
• Adapt sessions based on student progress and goals
• Maintain professionalism, organization, and punctuality
• Work in cooperation with an Academic Advisor to share detailed notes about each session

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree required (Education or related field preferred)
• 2+ years of tutoring or teaching experienceStrong proficiency in either high school‑level math or ELA/Writing
• Experience with standardized test prep (SAT/ACT—math and/or verbal) strongly preferred
• Ability to work independently
• Comfortable using iPad‑based instructional tools
• Professional presence and strong communication skills
• Reliable transportation for in‑home sessions
