Job summary

The Raymond Group in San Diego is seeking a Project Engineer to provide project administration and operational support for assigned commercial construction projects. This full-time, exempt role tracks schedules, coordinates material submittals, and logs field metrics to support profitability.

You will coordinate with project managers, estimators, and field leaders every day to keep projects on track. Strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to read blueprints are essential.

Qualifications

• Two years of commercial field experience in the wall and ceiling industry OR a bachelor’s degree in construction management/engineering.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel for daily tracking tasks.
• Familiarity with blueprint reading and architectural plans is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Track and update project logs, blueprints, and files to keep office and jobsite teams aligned.
• Route project requests, design changes, and material approvals between the project team and the client.
• Review incoming plans and reports to catch mistakes early and ensure accuracy.
• Create material order lists and plan jobsite storage logistics for field crews.
• Analyze daily field production logs to monitor progress and schedule delays.
• Review and compare vendor quotes to ensure best overall value.
• Gather safety data and project documentation for final handover and closeout.
• Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and field leaders to meet goals.
