Job summary

Metlang, a veteran-owned provider of interpretation and translation services, seeks a Samoan Analytic Linguist for on-site work in Oakland, CA. You will monitor, transcribe, translate, interpret, and analyze material to assist law enforcement investigations nationwide.

Ideal candidates are fluent in English and Samoan, able to work in real time, pass language tests, and be willing to travel. Federal clearance is a plus and benefits include major medical insurance and a 401k.

Qualifications

• Clear, concise English and Samoan written and spoken communication.
• Experience summarizing, translating audio and text in real time.
• Prior interpreting and translating experience in a law enforcement setting.
• Ability to prioritize tasks with strong attention to detail.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Typing speed above 40 words per minute.
• Team player with ability to work under pressure.
• Willing to work on a rotating schedule.
• Must pass language tests in English and Samoan or provide prior results.
• Federal clearance a plus.
• Willing to travel outside local area for extended periods.
