Job summary

Western Midstream is seeking a Water Field Tech to safely operate saltwater disposal facilities near Carlsbad, NM. You will monitor wells, manage pumps and pipelines, perform routine maintenance, and ensure compliance with regulatory and environmental standards.

The role requires 1–3 years in oilfield operations, knowledge of pumps and gauges, and a valid driver’s license. The position involves an 8/6 schedule, potential overtime, and working within 75 miles of Carlsbad.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of oilfield operations experience preferred.
• Knowledge of injection wells, pumps, and basic mechanical systems preferred.
• Understanding of oil & gas safety practices and environmental regulations preferred.
• Ability to read gauges, meters, and basic schematics preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor saltwater disposal wells, pumps, tanks, and equipment.
• Inject produced water within permit limits and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor pressures, flow rates, volumes, and temperatures to ensure safe operations.
• Conduct routine inspections of facilities, pipelines, valves, and meters.
• Identify and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and operational issues.
• Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on pumps, motors, and equipment.
• Maintain accurate daily logs, injection volumes, and pressure records.
• Collect water samples and assist with testing as required.
• Respond to alarms, spills, leaks, or operational upsets in a timely manner.
• Coordinate with production, trucking, and field operations personnel.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety policies.
• Maintain housekeeping at SWD locations.
