Job summary

KPMG LLP seeks a Manager to join its State and Local Tax (SALT) practice in Chicago. You will participate in multi-state tax planning and compliance for alternative investment clients, including hedge funds, fund of funds, private equity, and real estate ventures.

Responsibilities include managing state tax controversies, preparing clients for audits, mentoring staff, and delivering technical memoranda on income, franchise, sales and use tax questions.

Qualifications

• Active CPA/EA/JD/LLM or approved credential (or pursuing within one year of hire).
• Extensive experience in multi-state tax issues and planning for pass-through and corporate entities.
• Strong research, writing, and tax compliance skills across state income/franchise/sales tax.

Responsibilities

• Participate in multi-state tax issues for hedge funds, private equity, real estate, and investment firms.
• Assist with state and local tax controversies including hearings and protests.
• Lead and mentor staff; build client relationships; provide technical memoranda on tax questions.
