Job summary

KPMG LLP is seeking a Tax Intern to join its State & Local Tax practice for Summer 2027. The program targets early-career candidates pursuing a JD or equivalent, with CPA eligibility pursued after graduation.

The role emphasizes a collaborative culture and development through formal training and mentoring. Responsibilities include due diligence, acquisition structuring, SALT advisory for M&A, and leveraging AI, Alteryx, and Power BI to enhance client service.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited law school pursuing the JD or equivalent program.
• Must have additional academic credits to complete degree and/or CPA eligibility requirements.
• Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver transaction related tax due diligence and acquisition structuring services.
• Advise private equity and commercial clients on SALT matters related to M&A.
• Identify and calculate pre-transaction SALT exposures and opportunities during acquisition or disposition steps.
• Research tax laws and form positions on application to facts; stay current on SALT developments.
• Identify post-transaction integration opportunities and help develop client relationships with new entities.
• Draft due diligence reports and memorandums addressing risk and application of law to facts.
• Read and draft comments on transaction documents from tax due diligence and related services.
• Build capabilities in technologies like AI, Alteryx and Power BI for client service delivery.
