Job description

The following description outlines the responsibilities and requirements for the Salesperson and Store Driver positions at Advance Auto Parts.

Salesperson

Entry‑level sales position supporting the DIY business and achieving sales and service objectives.

Expected to have good store system knowledge, basic automotive system knowledge, and basic part knowledge. Must be able to source parts from stores, hubs, PDQ, and external suppliers, and be familiar with store inventory and maintenance processes. Position can be part time or full time. Fleet safety certification is preferred.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent selling experience for DIY customer visits and phone calls
  • Achieve personal sales goal and help store achieve its sales goals
  • Provide DIY services such as battery installation, testing, wiper installations, etc.
  • Maintain store product and operational standards
  • Responsible for inventory processes including truck put‑away, shoot‑outs, cycle counts, back stock, etc.
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Maintain store cleanliness: floors, bathrooms, facing, dusting, parking lot
  • General stocking: truck stocking and back stock
  • Safely deliver parts to customers as needed

  • Ability to work an assortment of days, evenings, and weekends as needed
Prior Experience
  • 2–3 years of successful sales experience in a diverse retail environment, providing superior customer experiences
Store Driver

Entry‑level store position supporting delivery of parts to commercial customers. Responsible for delivering parts to our commercial customers and assisting with inventory processes in the store. Position can be part time or full time and must be fleet safety certified.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Safely deliver parts to customers as needed
  • Pick and stage parts for customer orders
  • Pick up returns and cores
  • Drop off weekly/monthly sales flyers
  • Daily collection of credit accounts
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Maintain store cleanliness: floors, bathrooms, facing, dusting, parking lot
  • General stocking: truck stocking and back stock
Success Factors

Physical Demands

The employee will predominantly be walking or standing, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

Work Environment

The employee usually works indoors, but may occasionally be outdoors and exposed to weather conditions while performing tasks such as installing batteries and wiper blades. There may be exposure to moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, toxic chemicals, electrical shock risk, explosives, and vibration. Noise levels are usually moderate.
