Job summary

Avalara, Inc. seeks a Principal Salesforce Platform Architect to define and govern the enterprise Salesforce architecture, ensuring scalable, secure, and AI-enabled operations across revenue and customer workflows. You will set roadmaps, standards, and patterns guiding all Salesforce development and integrations.

Qualifications

• B.S. in CS or Eng is required.
• 12+ years of enterprise systems architecture experience, including Salesforce.
• Expertise in Salesforce ecosystem and platform capabilities.
• Experience defining platform standards, data models, and integration architectures.
• Experience with data platforms, integration layers, and AI-enabled workflows.
• Experience influencing cross-functional stakeholders and driving architectural decisions.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain the enterprise Salesforce architecture strategy and roadmap.
• Establish guardrails, design principles, and capability models.
• Ensure alignment with Lead-to-Sale, Q2C, and Customer Experience strategies.
• Lead architecture reviews for Salesforce-related initiatives.
• Guide delivery teams in applying Salesforce architecture standards.
• Define integration patterns between Salesforce and billing, product, and CX systems.
