Position Summary

As a Sales Trainee at United Electric, you will undergo a comprehensive, hands-on program designed to prepare you for a successful career as an Outside Sales Representative. The program includes rotations through key departments such as warehouse, counter sales, inside sales, and product groups, providing a well-rounded understanding of our operations and customer needs. You will develop essential sales skills, gain product knowledge, and build confidence to excel in Outside Sales.

Sales Trainee Program Overview

Each rotation offers practical experience in managing sales from entry to delivery and invoicing, involving problem-solving and customer service. Trainees participate in training classes, webinars, and on-the-job learning to accelerate their understanding of customer service. We value talent and provide opportunities for training and career growth.

Roadmap Rotations Include:
  • Warehouse – 6 Weeks
  • Counter – 6 Months
  • Product Groups (Gear/Lighting/Pipe/Wire) – 3-6 Months
  • Inside Sales – 3 Months
  • Shadowing Outside Sales – 3 Months
Responsibilities During Rotations
  • Learn and communicate United’s value proposition to customers.
  • Develop vendor relationships for sales opportunities.
  • Participate in web-based training, including two 6-month NAED EPEC modules.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to serve customers better.
Location

Flexible, with potential needs to be in various locations during rotations, supporting coverage as needed.

Position Responsibilities as an Outside Sales / Account Representative
  • Build and maintain relationships with customers in a specific region.
  • Engage in customer entertainment and industry events.
  • Articulate United Electric’s value proposition focusing on cost, advantage, risk, and ease.
  • Connect customers with support services, product groups, and resources.
  • Support marketing, new products, training, and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Document activities through the Customer Value Program.
  • Develop relationships with manufacturers and engage them with customers.
  • Provide excellent customer service and resolve issues promptly.
  • Assist with job bids and project-related problems.
  • Coordinate with Inside Sales on account management.
  • Set pricing levels with analytics support.
  • Follow up on quotes and close orders.
  • Provide sales forecasts and participate in meetings.
  • Follow expense policies and perform other duties as assigned.
Safety Sensitive Position
  • Operate powered industrial trucks if required.
  • Lift 50 lbs., bend, twist, and climb as needed.
  • Follow all safety, health, and environmental policies.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and report incidents.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and conflict resolution experience.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated and proactive in seeking new business.
