Job summary

Les Schwab Tire Centers in Bend, Oregon is seeking a Sales Tax Associate Accountant to manage sales tax returns for multiple jurisdictions and assist stores with tax exemptions. You will partner with accounting, finance, and ERP systems to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Ideal candidates will have 2+ years in Tax/Accounting, strong Excel and Google Suite skills, and familiarity with NetSuite, OneSource and Vertex.

Qualifications

• Educational/Experience Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent and at least 2 years experience in Tax, Accounting, Finance, or related field. Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Required Technical Skills/Knowledge: Advanced PC skills including Excel, and Google Suite. Other desirable system knowledge includes NetSuite, Customer First, OneSource, Vertex, or working knowledge of similar tax determination engines, general ledger, Gemini AI and ERP systems.
• General Knowledge and Abilities: Excellent communication skills, active listening, clear writing, attention to detail, analytical thinking, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Collects, verifies, archives and retrieves sales tax exemption documentation and follows up with stores to improve compliance.
• Prepare sales and use tax returns for multiple jurisdictions and build reports to file and pay taxes due.
• Review system generated reports to ensure accurate tax charges and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Assist with questions on exemptions, use tax reporting, invoice corrections, and provide sales/use tax training.
• Maintain tax training documents, perform tax research and support audits.
