Job summary

Convergint is seeking a full-time Sales Support Estimator to drive and manage the technology and evaluation stage of the sales process, partnering with the Account Executive as the key technical adviser.

You design and document installed solutions, review plans, prepare accurate estimates, and coordinate with vendors to ensure timely, high-quality proposals that meet customer needs in a fast-paced, inclusive culture.

Responsibilities

• Design and document moderately complex installed solutions based on project requirements and site conditions.
• Review project plans, specs, and site conditions to determine requirements and risks.
• Prepare accurate project estimates and quotes using approved estimating tools.
• Support customer information requests including RFIs and RFPs.
• Collaborate with Sales to understand customer needs and communicate value of products/services.
• Coordinate with vendors, AHJs, and team members to ensure alignment with plans and schedule.
• Advise on products, availability, and lead times for installation.
• Prepare and review submittal packages with schematics and product data.

What you’ll do with "Our Training and Your Experience"

• Design and document moderately complex installed solutions based on project requirements, plans, functional specifications, site conditions, and customer needs.
• Perform detailed review of project plans, specifications, and site conditions to determine overall project requirements, identify gaps or risks, and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Prepare accurate project estimates and quotes using approved estimating tools, and support customer requests for information, including RFIs and RFPs.
• Collaborate with Sales Professionals to understand customer requirements, develop cost-effective solutions, and clearly communicate the value of Convergint products and services.
• Coordinate with colleagues, vendors, consultants, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) throughout the estimating and design process to ensure technical and project requirements are addressed.
• Provide input, review, and coordination for shop drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and other technical documentation to confirm completeness, device and equipment locations, wiring requirements, and alignment with project plans, specifications, schedule, and customer expectations.
• Work with vendors to register project opportunities, secure competitive pricing, confirm product availability, and identify long-lead or specialty items that may impact project schedule or execution.
• Advise Sales Professionals and Project Managers regarding products and materials required for installation, including potential availability, compatibility, or lead-time concerns.
• Prepare and/or review formal submittal packages, including schematics, product data, and technical literature, as required to support project contracts.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.

What You’ll Need

• Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to maintain awareness of and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted.
• Ability to take initiative of engaging in proactive behaviors and opportunities of improvement.
• Basic knowledge of engineering principles and practices related to building automation systems, fire alarm systems, and electronic security systems.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Proficient computer skills including MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Requirements

Education: College degree, trade school or equivalent experience

Minimum Experience: 3-5 years relative industry sales engineering, estimating or equivalent
