The Sales Project Engineer serves as a key technical and commercial resource, supporting sales opportunities from initial customer engagement through proposal, project handoff, implementation coordination, and closeout. This role combines consultative selling, technical solution development, project coordination, and systems-driven follow-through. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in ERP and CRM systems, translating customer needs into practical solutions, and partnering with sales, operations, engineering, vendors, and customers to deliver successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with sales representatives and customers to understand project requirements, technical needs, timelines, commercial expectations, and success criteria.
- Prepare project scopes, budgets, estimates, quotations, proposals, and supporting technical documentation.
- Use NetSuite and CRM tools to maintain accurate opportunity records, customer information, project status, estimates, documentation, and follow-up activities.
- Coordinate with engineering, operations, procurement, vendors, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to confirm feasibility, pricing, lead times, and delivery requirements.
- Provide technical presentations, product or solution recommendations, and clear explanations of complex concepts to customers and internal teams.
- Track project milestones, risks, open issues, change requests, and customer commitments from pre-sale through project handoff or completion.
- Support proposal reviews, order entry, project kickoffs, status updates, and post-sale communication to ensure customer expectations are met.
- Identify process improvements, sales enablement opportunities, and system enhancements that improve accuracy, efficiency, and customer experience.
- Maintain current knowledge of company products, services, industry trends, technical standards, and competitive offerings.
- Determine feasibility of projects based on technical, scheduling, and financial constraints.
- Serve as communications lead during the proposal and implementation stages.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Experience in sales engineering, project engineering, estimating, technical sales, project coordination, or a closely related customer-facing technical role.
- Working knowledge of CRM platforms and comfort using NetSuite or similar ERP systems for quotes, customer records, project tracking, reporting, or order management.
- Strong ability to read, interpret, and communicate technical information, drawings, specifications, requirements, or project documentation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical solutions to non-technical audiences.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple opportunities, deadlines, priorities, and project details simultaneously.
- Customer-focused mindset with strong problem-solving, follow-through, and collaboration skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with NetSuite CRM, NetSuite ERP, CRM, or similar sales and business systems.
- Experience supporting engineered products, industrial equipment, technology solutions, construction projects, manufacturing, distribution, or professional services.
- Experience preparing estimates, bills of material, project proposals, technical submittals, or customer-facing solution documentation.
- Familiarity with project management practices, including scope management, scheduling, risk tracking, change management, and stakeholder communication.
- Ability to analyze sales pipeline data, project metrics, and system reports to support forecasting and decision-making.
- Experience in creating automated work flows to optimize key reoccurring activities using AI platforms.

Work Environment and Expectations
