We're building a repeatable, sales motion for a large consumer-finance client, and we need a senior sales-operations and performance-management consultant who can turn strategy and scorecards into a working operating cadence, and who can sit across the table from a data-driven executive and hold that conversation with credibility.
The context
The client has a large, non-traditional "sales" force, concierge staff, local experts, and virtual experts who sit inside a customer-service organization and today mostly have service conversations, not sales ones. The opportunity is to help them turn those interactions into assisted engagements at scale, without building a traditional sales org from scratch. Strategy and scorecards are underway with a top-tier strategy firm; our job is the execution layer that makes it real in the field, and to do it fast, ahead of a hard seasonal deadline.
This is a hands-on advisory and delivery role, not an advisory-only one. You'll design the model, stand up the cadence, and stay through the season to make it work.
What you'll do
- Design the coverage model: who covers whom, through which channel (field, retail, virtual), and at what intensity, and how that flexes between the build phase and peak season.
- Build the prospecting and activity framework: prospect-list working process, cadences, and the actions that actually build pipeline, including how to work a warm base of prior customers.
- Stand up performance management: leading and lagging scorecards, weekly manager rhythms, coaching guides, and reviews that work within an existing service org's metrics rather than against them.
- Set targets rigorously: combine baselines, control-market comparisons, prior-year cohorts, and industry benchmarks, and calibrate to the client's own data. Have a defensible point of view on what "good" looks like and where the numbers come from.
- Partner with the client's data science and platform teams on lead scoring, list prioritization, and coverage/contact modeling, and translate their outputs into a motion sellers can actually execute.
- Support in-market execution and continuous optimization through the season, adapting as pricing, positioning, and results change.
- Represent the work with senior client stakeholders, clearly and credibly.
What you bring (must-have)
- 8+ years in sales operations, revenue operations, sales performance management, or sales-strategy consulting, with real hands-on delivery, not just decks and frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience building coverage, capacity/quota, and performance-management frameworks for a distributed or non-traditional sales force (partner/channel, field, retail, inside, or seasonal), not just a classic B2B AE team.
- Fluency in the data and decision science behind sales. You're comfortable with funnel and cohort analysis, lead scoring, and propensity/defector models; you can partner with a data-science team, interpret their work, and push back intelligently. This is the bar the client cares about most.
- A benchmarked point of view. You can say what strong looks like, cite where it comes from, and be honest about where a number needs to be calibrated rather than borrowed.
- Executive presence. You can hold a rigorous, data-fluent conversation with a senior, numbers-driven leader and earn trust quickly.
- Proven ability to turn strategy and scorecards into an operating cadence (rhythms, coaching, reviews) that people actually adopt.
Strongly preferred
- Industry experience in financial services, fintech, banking, insurance, or tax/accounting.
- Experience with service-to-sales conversion motions, turning support or servicing interactions into sales.
- Seasonal or high-volume, high-velocity sales environments.
- Familiarity with AI-enabled selling (next-best-action, guided selling, agent assist) and the change management needed to drive real adoption.
- Comfort being embedded in-market, coaching frontline sellers and their managers directly.
- Management-consulting background, able to complement top-tier strategy firms at the execution layer.
What success looks like in the first weeks
- Establishes the baseline and defines the metrics with the client's team.
- Stands up a scorecard, operating cadence, and coaching rhythm.
- Helps prove the motion in a single pilot market, with a clear go/no-go before anyone spends at scale.
- U.S.-based; available to travel to priority growth markets.
- Contract or full-time for the engagement duration; potential to extend.
- Start quickly, pre-season timing is tight.
Note for our search: near-term, this person also needs to help us represent the approach in client conversations, so weight demonstrated depth and executive presence heavily. We want someone who can both do the work and speak to it with authority.
