Job description

Sales Manager - Data Center Solutions

Type: Hybrid | Full-Time

About Our Client

Our client is a well-established industrial solutions provider serving customers across several technical and infrastructure-focused markets. The organization works closely with customers to develop and deliver specialized solutions for complex operational requirements, with an emphasis on reliability, technical expertise, and long-term customer relationships.

This is an opportunity to join a growing organization and play a key role in expanding its presence within an emerging market. The successful candidate will have significant ownership over territory development, customer relationships, and new business growth across Texas and surrounding U.S. markets.

Key Responsibilities

As the Sales Manager - Data Center Solutions, you will lead new business development across Texas and adjacent U.S. markets, identifying opportunities and developing customer relationships from the ground up through contract award and project handoff.

Business Development & Market Development

  • Identify data center and power-generation projects early, before equipment specifications and vendor decisions are finalized.

  • Develop relationships with data center developers, hyperscalers, colocation providers, utilities, EPCs, OEMs, engineering firms, and power-generation partners.

  • Build and execute account plans for priority prospects throughout Texas and other high-growth markets.

  • Generate new opportunities through outbound prospecting, referrals, industry relationships, customer visits, conferences, and trade shows.

  • Monitor market activity, project announcements, permitting, power constraints, customer requirements, and competitive developments to identify new opportunities.

Consultative & Technical Sales

  • Lead discovery with technical and commercial stakeholders to understand project requirements, gas supply, pressure and temperature requirements, redundancy, telemetry, logistics, and operating constraints.

  • Translate customer requirements into appropriate solutions involving pressure regulation systems, heaters, manifolds, filtration, conditioning, compression, telemetry, backup CNG supply, and related services.

  • Present technical and commercial solutions to executives, engineers, procurement teams, project managers, and site operators.

  • Work with engineering and operations to validate feasibility, scope, lead times, equipment availability, and execution requirements.

  • Position solutions early in the project lifecycle so the organization is considered before formal RFP activity begins.

Sales Execution & Commercial Management

  • Own the complete sales cycle from prospecting and qualification through proposal, negotiation, contract award, and handoff to execution.

  • Develop proposals, pricing inputs, business cases, and commercial recommendations with internal stakeholders.

  • Negotiate commercial terms while protecting revenue, margin, risk, and long-term customer value.

  • Manage complex sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders and significant technical, capital, and operational considerations.

  • Identify opportunities to expand equipment sales into service, monitoring, maintenance, spare parts, mobilization, and other recurring-revenue offerings.

  • Maintain accurate CRM records, opportunity documentation, close plans, competitive positioning, and next steps.

Customer & Internal Partnership

  • Represent the organization as a credible and knowledgeable sales leader throughout the Texas market.

  • Build long-term customer relationships and remain a trusted point of contact throughout the commercial process.

  • Work closely with senior leadership on account strategy, executive relationships, pipeline reviews, and go/no-go decisions.

  • Partner with marketing on campaigns, events, customer education, and market messaging.

  • Provide feedback to engineering, manufacturing, operations, and leadership on customer requirements, pricing, delivery expectations, and competitive activity.

  • Ensure a smooth transition from sales award to project execution.

Reporting & Performance Management

  • Provide regular pipeline, forecast, activity, win/loss, and market updates to leadership.

  • Track performance against revenue, gross margin, new-account, pipeline, conversion, sales-cycle, and retention objectives.

  • Use CRM and sales analytics to prioritize accounts, identify gaps, and improve forecast reliability.

  • Maintain strong standards for data quality, follow-through, responsiveness, and accountability.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates should demonstrate:

Education & Experience:

  • 8+ years of progressive B2B sales or business development experience with a strong record of winning new business.

  • Experience selling engineered equipment, capital equipment, energy infrastructure, power-generation solutions, gas equipment, or similar technical industrial products.

  • Demonstrated experience selling to data centers, power-generation companies, utilities, EPCs, OEMs, developers, or comparable industrial customers.

  • Established network across Texas and/or the broader U.S. data center, power, energy, industrial, or infrastructure markets.

  • Experience managing complex sales cycles involving technical discovery, multiple decision-makers, proposals, negotiations, and contract awards.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, sales, marketing, energy, or a related field is an asset.

Technical Skills:

  • Ability to understand and discuss technical concepts related to gas supply, pressure regulation, temperature control, filtration, conditioning, compression, manifolds, telemetry, and site operations.

  • Strong understanding of consultative selling, account planning, pipeline management, forecasting, and CRM practices.

  • Experience with engineered-to-order products, project-based sales, equipment sales or rentals, or long-term service agreements is an asset.

Key Competencies:

  • Proven hunter mentality with the ability to create opportunities from the ground up.

  • Strong relationship-building and consultative selling skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with executive, technical, procurement, and operational stakeholders.

  • Strong commercial judgment and negotiation skills.

  • Self-directed, disciplined, and comfortable operating in a growth-oriented environment.

  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly to customer sites, project locations, company facilities, and industry events.
