Job description

Madison Professional Group is partnering with a fast-growing, award-winning wealth management firm to identify a high-impact, data-driven Sales Manager (Player-Coach) to lead its Client Development team and drive the performance of its prospect meeting engine.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who knows how to build, coach, measure, and execute.

The Sales Manager will lead a team of Client Development Specialists while maintaining an individual production responsibility. This individual will be accountable for generating consistent, predictable qualified prospect meeting volume, improving conversion rates, strengthening pipeline performance, and continually optimizing the firm's inbound and outbound business development efforts.

Success in this role requires more than managing activity. We are looking for a leader who can interpret the data, identify where performance is breaking down, coach the team accordingly, and step into execution personally when needed.

Ultimately, this individual will own the performance of the prospect meeting engine and ensure the team consistently delivers against weekly and quarterly growth objectives.

Why Join Our Client?

Our client is a fast-growing, award-winning wealth management firm specializing in serving corporate executives and professionals.

The firm helps clients optimize all aspects of their financial lives, including executive compensation and benefits, tax strategy, retirement planning, investment management, and comprehensive financial planning. An in-house CPA team also provides tax preparation services for clients who need them, creating a highly integrated client experience.

At the center of the firm's approach is a true client-first philosophy: no product sales, no commissions, and fully fee-only financial planning and asset management.

The firm invests in its employees with the same long-term mindset it brings to its clients. Team members receive a highly competitive benefits package, strong support for continuing education, opportunities to participate in industry conferences and professional development, and the opportunity to build their careers within a growing organization.

The firm has also been recognized as one of the best places to work for financial advisors.

What Success Looks Like: The Sales Manager will be accountable for creating a disciplined, measurable, and high-performing client development function.

Success will be demonstrated by:

  • Consistently meeting or exceeding weekly qualified prospect meeting targets
  • Improving conversion rates throughout the lead-to-meeting funnel
  • Maintaining clear visibility into activity, pipeline, and performance metrics
  • Identifying performance gaps early and implementing solutions quickly
  • Developing and coaching a high-performing Client Development team
  • Creating a culture of accountability, urgency, ownership, and continuous improvement
  • Personally contributing to meeting generation and pipeline/AUM growth
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of three Client Development Specialists
  • Establish clear individual and team expectations, KPIs, and performance standards
  • Monitor daily activity, conversion rates, meeting volume, and pipeline health
  • Conduct regular coaching and performance discussions based on measurable results
  • Identify individual and team performance gaps and implement solutions quickly
  • Own hiring, onboarding, training, and ongoing performance management for the Client Development team
  • Build a culture centered on accountability, execution, continuous improvement, and results

This is not a management-only position. The Sales Manager will remain actively involved in business development and lead from the front.

  • Carry an individual quota tied to qualified meetings and pipeline/AUM contribution
  • Actively prospect through phone, LinkedIn, email, and other multi-channel outreach
  • Demonstrate best practices in activity level, messaging, prospect engagement, and conversion
  • Test and refine outreach approaches alongside the team
  • Maintain approximately a 70% individual production / 30% team leadership allocation, flexing as business needs require
  • Step directly into execution when additional production is necessary to achieve team objectives

The Sales Manager will own the metrics that drive the Client Development team's performance, including:

  • Weekly qualified prospect meetings set
  • Outbound activity volume
  • Lead-to-meeting conversion rates
  • AUM opportunity creation
  • Individual and team quota attainment

This individual will build and maintain reporting that provides clear visibility into performance and supports data-driven decision-making.

When results fall below expectations, the Sales Manager will be responsible for identifying why, determining the appropriate corrective action, and driving that solution through execution.

Sales Strategy & Optimization
  • Continuously evaluate and improve outbound and inbound prospecting strategies
  • Refine messaging, sequences, targeting, and outreach methodologies based on performance data
  • Analyze funnel performance to identify opportunities to improve conversion
  • Evaluate and optimize sales technology and tools, including HubSpot, RingCentral, LinkedIn, and related platforms
  • Partner closely with Marketing to influence campaign strategy, audience targeting, messaging, and lead-generation initiatives based on frontline sales insights
  • Recommend and implement improvements to workflows, systems, technology, and sales processes
  • Establish repeatable processes that support the firm's continued growth and scalability
Qualifications

The ideal candidate is both a strong sales leader and a proven individual producer who is comfortable operating in a highly accountable, metrics-driven environment.

Qualifications include:

  • Proven experience leading inside sales, SDR, BDR, client development, or similar sales teams
  • Demonstrated success as an individual sales producer with the ability and willingness to lead from the front
  • Strong coaching and people-development capabilities
  • Proven track record of achieving or exceeding measurable performance targets
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to quickly diagnose funnel and performance issues
  • Strong understanding of sales metrics, pipeline management, conversion rates, and activity-based KPIs
  • Decisive, proactive approach to solving problems and addressing performance challenges
  • Process-oriented mindset with the ability to build, refine, and scale systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with CRM, prospecting, and sales enablement technology
  • Financial services or wealth management experience is valuable but not required
  • Series 65 license or willingness to obtain the Series 65 within the first six months of employment

The firm offers a highly competitive compensation and benefits package designed to reward both individual and team performance.

  • Competitive base salary plus quarterly performance-based incentive compensation
  • Bonus opportunities tied to team meeting targets, conversion and pipeline performance, and individual quota attainment
  • On-Target Earnings (OTE): $180,000+
  • 401(k) plan with the opportunity to earn contributions of up to 7% in the first year and up to 10% with tenure
  • Employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance premiums for employees and their families, HSA contribution, employer-paid life insurance, employer-paid long-term disability coverage and support for continuing education and professional development
