Base pay range

$100,000.00/yr - $125,000.00/yr

We have partnered with a growing distributor of specialty lumber and building materials to identify a Sales Manager for their Miami market. The ideal candidate for this role will have a demonstrated track record of developing high-performing teams in the building materials space with bonus points for lumber/hardwoods experience.

About the Role

You will be responsible for maximizing our sales team potential, crafting sales plans and justifying those to plans to the upper management. This position is responsible for driving sales growth and profitability within residential and commercial construction clients by helping build and managing the outside and inside sales teams.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and master company products and sales processes
  • Understand customer’s needs and persuasively present products that fulfill them
  • Proactively search territory’s lumber needs based on the current market fluctuations and adjust accordingly for financial, environmental, and any other changes that may occur
  • Define and communicate sales goals and keep the executive team informed about the progress.
  • Develop and implement sales action plans.
  • Develop strategies in partnership and with the support of the Marketing Team.
  • Manage the outside and inside sales teams.
  • Oversee daily operations in the sales department.
  • Grow the business working with builders, contractors, architects and specifiers.
  • Work with the store and e-commerce teams to maximize sales efforts.
  • Participate in events to present the company and the products.
  • Monitor the evolution of the market by studying the competitors in the territory.
  • Monitor key performance indicators for assigned professional customers.
  • Regularly meet with new customers to assess satisfaction with services and develop a list of strong referrals.
  • Review satisfaction results to understand customers’ perspectives and use the information to drive local decisions and strategies to improve competitive edge.
  • Partner with the logistics team to coordinate special delivery requests.
  • Become a trusted advisor for clients and peers within the company.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in sales experience, preferably in lumber retail
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Background in the home improvement industry, specifically in Lumber, Composite, Tropical Wood, or Decking.
  • Experience in inside and outside Sales.
  • Strong networking in the industry.
  • Experience in sales management.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Required Skills

  • Background in the home improvement industry, specifically in Lumber, Composite, Tropical Wood, or Decking.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written English, Spanish and Portuguese a plus)
  • Ability to work with a team
  • Maintain awareness of new products and systems
  • Ability to obtain and retain new buyers by creating long-lasting relationships
  • Effective at price quoting and follow-up communication
  • Strong ability to prioritize and meet company timelines
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close
  • Strong business sense and industry expertise
  • Excellent mentoring, coaching and people management skills
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or be authorized to work in the U.S

Pay range and compensation package
