Basic Job Functions:

The Sales Estimator’s primary responsibility is to maximize the long-term success of Nucor by efficiently performing accurate joist & deck takeoffs to create high-quality sales proposals, while also effectively communicating with engineers, customers, and teammates to develop value-added solutions. This position requires a high level of collaboration with the assigned sales office and taking an ownership role with the bid process is critical to ensure all work is completed in a timely manner.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Compensation Data:

Starting compensation for this role ranges from $21.11 to $32.74 per hour and is eligible to earn monthly commission and annual division earned Profit Sharing bonus.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Basic construction experience or knowledge.
  • Willingness and ability to work more than 40 hours per week, when required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SAP, and NuBid.
  • Two or four year degree in business, sales, marketing, construction management, engineering, or related field.
  • Two years of experience in the steel and/or construction industry.
  • Mobility for future advancement opportunities within Nucor.
  • Experience reading structural drawings and project specifications, as well as a general understanding of the construction process.
