Job summary

BlueScope North America is seeking a Sales Engineer to translate complex technical information for customers and lead preliminary structural designs for pre-engineered and hybrid buildings. You will coordinate with suppliers and prepare professional proposals throughout preconstruction, guiding projects from start to finish.

The role requires PE certification and a strong background in steel design, with extensive experience in proposals, estimating, and building code compliance.

Qualifications

• Licensed PE with civil engineering background and related field.
• Minimum 10 years in construction with steel building design experience.
• Proven track record in proposal development, estimating, or sales.

Responsibilities

• Develop structural estimates for complex pre-engineered buildings (PEB).
• Review drawings and specs to define proposal scope.
• Engage with customers to clarify requirements and delivery schedules.
• Identify framing solutions meeting requirements, considering costs and timelines.
• Ensure timely, accurate quotations and pre-order support for builders.
• Assist sales with price setting and quotations as needed.
• Track quotes and opportunities from kickoff for clean data transfer.
