Description
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven individual to fill our Sales Engineer Manager role. This position offers significant growth opportunities and the chance to lead a high-impact team in an evolving industry. The role involves developing and strengthening our specification position at the engineer and owner level, managing a team, building a robust opportunity pipeline, ensuring document control, and managing KPIs. Additionally, the Sales Engineer Manager will oversee product training initiatives to enhance customer engagement and increase adoption of ASC solutions. The role requires strategic collaboration with Regional Sales Managers, market-specific Sales Teams, and the Construction Technology (Con. Tech) Team to drive user adoption of ASC ConnectED.
Team Management
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team of Sales Engineers, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and growth.
- Recruit, onboard, and retain top talent to ensure strong technical expertise and alignment with sales goals.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, set individual and team goals, and provide constructive feedback.
- Ensure that the Sales Engineer team maintains a high level of product knowledge and sales acumen to meet job duties.
- Ensure that the Sales Engineer team meets all goals.
Sales & Pipeline Development
- Develop and execute strategies to build and maintain a robust sales and specification pipeline, with success metrics such as specification conversion rates, adoption rates, and revenue contributions.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities based on market intelligence and sales leads.
- Collaborate with sales teams to align specification efforts with broader revenue goals.
- Lead organizational change initiatives to improve processes, tools, and team structure for sales engineering effectiveness.
Specification Development & Document Ownership
- Own and manage the ASC Master Specification Document and support its utilization in third-party software with the Con. Tech Team.
- Create and implement a yearly plan to enhance specification positions for all applicable products, focusing on Strategic products.
- Improve the company's position at target accounts, including owners, engineers, reps, distributors, and contractors.
- Maintain and continuously improve the ASC Master Specification.
Product Training & Development
- Develop and execute comprehensive training programs for customers, internal teams, and distribution partners, measuring success through certifications, assessments, and feedback.
- Cover technical product knowledge, installation best practices, key application benefits, and sales techniques.
- Conduct training sessions and oversee team-delivered training for consistency and effectiveness.
- Utilize various training methods, including in-person, virtual, and hands-on demos.
- Track participation and impact via assessments, feedback, and engagement metrics.
Document Control & CRM Management
- Ensure all sales activities and training initiatives are documented in CRM and team-specific systems.
- Maintain accurate records of specifications, product details, training materials, and competitive insights.
KPI & Performance Management
- Establish KPIs aligned with specification growth, sales pipeline, and training impact.
- Develop and monitor metrics to measure success and utilize data to improve efforts.
- Report progress to the VP of Construction Technology & End-user Engagement.
Market & Product Knowledge
- Develop a thorough understanding of product features, market applications, technical language, and competitors.
- Stay informed on industry trends and market developments.
- Collaborate with the Con. Tech Team to promote user adoption of ASC ConnectED and ensure integration with third-party platforms.
Industry Engagement
- Build relationships within the industry by joining associations and participating in events.
- Represent ASC in industry committees, boards, and panels.
Administrative & Reporting Duties
- Complete all administrative and reporting requirements.
- Coordinate activities with regional and cross-functional teams as needed.
What You Will Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred) or related field.
- 10+ years of technical sales experience in PVF or mechanical/plumbing industries.
- Leadership, sales execution, and training skills.
- Experience in developing and delivering training programs.
- Ability to build and manage a sales pipeline.
- Proficiency with document control, CRM, and training software.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 75%, ideally based near a major metro area with an airport.
