Job summary

LECO is seeking a qualified Sales Engineer located in the Central Region of the United States. The role includes demonstrating laboratory solutions for Metallurgical, Spectroscopy, Thermal, and Elemental Analysis. Ideal candidates will possess strong sales skills and knowledge in chemical analysis.

Responsibilities include customer visits, following up on leads, and utilizing Salesforce for sales management. A BS Degree in Chemistry or related fields is preferred. LECO offers a supportive work environment.

Job description

Position Summary

A qualified Sales Engineer exhibits an interest in chemical analysis and material testing. This individual will have a strong understanding of the sales process and play a key role in all field sales before, during, and after the sales process for LECO’s laboratory solutions for Metallurgical, Spectroscopy, Thermal and Elemental Analysis. The Sales Engineer should be a quick learner with strong listening and demonstration skills to showcase our product offerings in a compelling manner. This individual will interface and assist existing and new potential customers, qualify prospects, and work with the customer base to find solutions for their analytical and materials characterization problems and increase LECO’s market growth. This position focuses on LECO’s customer base in the Central Region including, Alabama, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, North Dakota, South Dakota, Tennessee, Wisconsin and surrounding areas.

Position Responsibilities
  • Visit customers to demonstrate products and discuss sales opportunities daily in the assigned territory.
  • Follow up on all leads provided by LECO.
  • Prospecting and cold calling to identify new business opportunities.
  • Complete timely quotations to customers working through support staff.
  • Work closely with others at LECO to coordinate the overall selling efforts of the company.
  • Complete work reviewing and improving a Sales Plan that includes an action plan for increasing sales to active customers and prospective customers, scheduling full coverage of the territory, maintaining a high level of in field time and continually improving product presentation skills and knowledge.
  • Respond to all customer phone calls and emails in a timely manner.
  • Utilize LECO’s CRM (Salesforce) package for completing daily tasks and management reporting.
  • Timely completion of all periodic sales reports, calendar events, and opportunity management.
  • Coordinate sales to key accounts within their territory.
  • Participation and presentation in local professional organizations.
  • Operate within LECO’s Code of Conduct.
  • Learn and implement LECO’s strategic selling methodology.
Position Requirements
  • Strong computer skills (i.e. Word, Excel PowerPoint).
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to learn the scientific principles and technology of the equipment.
  • Sales territory management abilities a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with a CRM, Salesforce, is a plus but not required.
  • Self-directed highly motivated strategic thinker.
  • Ability to work within the USA without restrictions.
Education/Certifications
  • BS Degree preferably in Chemistry, Material Science, or other related disciplines
