Qualifications

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.).
• Familiarity with racking engineering fundamentals.
• Competence with design software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Inventor.
• Excellent problem solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide customers with design solutions aligned to capabilities and timelines.
• Evaluate designs, identify improvements, and contribute to product development.
• Collaborate with consultants, customers, and internal teams on data center designs.
• Develop and review customer-facing designs, BOMs, and technical docs.

Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Data Systems is seeking a talented and innovative Sales Engineer to join our team. The Sales Engineer is focusing on driving growth in the data center sector. This role is central to developing and expanding our business in the data center sector by providing technical sales support, creating design solutions, and building strong customer relationships. As a Sales Engineer, you will work closely with customers, engineers, and internal teams to deliver customized data center solutions that showcase Nucor’s industry-leading products.

Job Description

• Provide customers with design solutions that align with Nucor capabilities and project timelines.
• Evaluate current product designs, identify areas for improvement, and engage in product development initiatives.
• Collaborate with consultant PE’s, customers, and internal teams to design customized data center systems.
• Develop and review customer-facing designs, material take-offs, and technical documentation for data center infrastructure components.
• Drive sales growth in the data center sector by building and maintaining strong customer relationships, identifying growth opportunities, and expanding customer accounts.
• Educate and train customers on Nucor Data Systems products and capabilities.
• Develop and present 3D model concepts for data center design solutions.
• Conduct on-site inspections of data center project installations to ensure compliance with design specification requirements, safety, and quality standards.
• Attend industry events and represent Nucor Data Systems as needed.
• Act as a key team member, working collaboratively with inter-company departments.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 2-4 years of experience in Sales Engineering, Design Engineering, or Business Development, with a focus in the data center sector.
• Demonstrated experience in sales, design, or customer service within a technical field.
• Strong understanding of the data center industry and related engineering requirements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, etc.).
• Familiarity with racking engineering fundamentals.
• Competence with design software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Inventor.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of experience in Sales Engineering, Design Engineering, or Business Development.
• Experience with data center infrastructure, structural steel systems, or equipment racking.
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar design software.
• Demonstrated success in sales growth, customer relationship management, and technical presentations.
• Experience with 3D modeling, material take-offs, and technical proposals.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, structural design, and steel fabrication.
• Experience collaborating with Professional Engineers, consultants, and customers.
