Job description

Our client is seeking a commercially driven, entrepreneurial Sales Director, U.S. Aftermarket Services to build and scale its North American aftermarket engineering services business. This is a rare greenfield growth opportunity for a sales leader who wants to build a business from the ground up, establish the company as a key player, and create a market strategy with the backing of a large global engineering services platform. The role offers significant autonomy, broad market scope, and the opportunity to become a foundational commercial leader for the company’s U.S. aftermarket services growth strategy. While the company has established a strong global reputation supporting leading industrial organizations, there is currently no dedicated aftermarket commercial organization in the U.S., creating a rare opportunity to define the market strategy from day one.

Key Responsibilities
Business Development:
  • Develop, qualify, and close new logo opportunities across aerospace, aviation, defense, heavy equipment, industrial machinery, trucking, rail, and related sectors.
  • Create and manage a high-quality sales pipeline with a focus on enterprise-level service engagements.
  • Identify and pursue customers requiring lifecycle engineering, maintenance engineering, MRO, technical documentation, training, sustainment, and aftermarket support.
  • Develop relationships with engineering, operations, maintenance, sustainment, logistics and procurement executives responsible for long-term asset support strategies.
Account Expansion and Relationship Building:
  • Partner with global client and aftermarket services account teams to identify multinational customers with U.S.-based expansion potential.
  • Expand relationships with existing global customers into North American divisions, business units, and operating sites.
  • Map customer organizations, identify decision makers, and build multithreaded relationships across technical, operational, procurement, and executive stakeholders.
Go-to-Market Execution:
  • Execute the U.S. go-to-market strategy in close partnership with global leadership.
  • Translate global service capabilities into a U.S.-specific market message and customer value proposition.
  • Drive revenue growth, analyze market trends, and position the company competitively
Strategic Market Development
  • Execute a defined commercial strategy targeting Fortune 500 industrial organizations across aerospace, defense, transportation, rail and heavy industry.
  • Prioritize industries where the company already possesses deep technical delivery capabilities and customer references globally.
  • Introduce new customers to the organizations broader engineering capabilities while leading with aftermarket services.
Business Building and Future Leadership:
  • Serve as the foundational commercial figure for the U.S. aftermarket services business.
  • Establish initial market credibility and customer traction.
  • Build repeatable sales motions, customer targeting logic, and pursuit processes.
  • As the business scales, help define hiring needs, team structure, and future regional commercial organization design.
  • Establish the company as a recognized aftermarket engineering partner across North America.
The Candidate

The ideal candidate is a hands-on commercial leader with experience selling complex engineering, aftermarket, MRO, technical consulting, or lifecycle services into industrial customers. This person should bring a strong hunter mentality, deep comfort with technical sales, and the ability to operate independently in a market-building environment.

Experience
  • 10+ years with an engineering services company, industrial consulting firm, offshore-enabled services provider, or specialized aftermarket / MRO services organization.
  • Proven track record in business development, sales, or commercial leadership within engineering services, aftermarket services, MRO, technical consulting, sustainment, or industrial services.
  • Experience selling into one or more of the following sectors: Aerospace, Aviation, Defense, Heavy equipment, Construction equipment, Trucking / commercial vehicles, Rail, Industrial equipment or machinery, Energy.
  • Demonstrated success building new business, opening accounts, and creating pipeline from limited existing footprint.
  • Track record of selling complex services rather than transactional products.
  • Ability to engage senior technical, operational, commercial, and procurement stakeholders.
  • Experience working with global delivery models, offshore engineering resources, or distributed technical delivery teams.
  • Strong understanding of aftermarket services, lifecycle support, maintenance engineering, technical documentation, training, MRO, or adjacent service areas.
  • Demonstrated success selling engineering services supporting the operational lifecycle of complex industrial assets.
  • Experience opening enterprise accounts through consultative, solution-based sales.
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal infrastructure while collaborating across global delivery organizations.
  • Experience navigating long enterprise sales cycles involving multiple technical and operational stakeholders.
