About the Opportunity

Our client is a growing, private-equity-backed manufacturer serving a diverse range of industrial, commercial, infrastructure, and specialty markets across North America.

We are conducting a search for a North American Sales Director to lead the company's commercial organization through an important period of growth, integration, and market expansion.

This is a highly visible leadership role for an accomplished sales executive who can drive profitable revenue growth, unify multiple sales organizations, strengthen channel performance, and build a scalable North American go-to-market strategy.

The ideal candidate will be both a strategic leader and hands-on commercial operator - someone who can set the vision while remaining close to customers, channel partners, major opportunities, and the sales team.

What You'll Do:
Lead North American Revenue Growth
  • Own North American bookings, revenue, contribution margin, and market-share growth.
  • Translate company objectives into regional, vertical, and individual sales strategies.
  • Drive growth across industrial, infrastructure, energy, hazardous-location, transportation, marine, food processing, and other strategic markets.
Build a Unified Commercial Organization
  • Lead the integration of multiple sales organizations, product portfolios, territories, and channel relationships.
  • Establish clear account ownership, territory responsibilities, and performance expectations.
  • Accelerate cross-selling opportunities across complementary product lines.
Strengthen the Channel
  • Build and manage a high-performing network of independent sales representatives, distributors, and strategic partners.
  • Evaluate channel performance, market coverage, capabilities, and commitment.
  • Recruit, develop, transition, or replace channel partners as needed.
Lead the Sales Team
  • Lead, coach, and develop a North American regional sales organization.
  • Establish a consistent operating cadence around pipeline reviews, forecasting, territory planning, and performance management.
  • Improve forecast accuracy and visibility into bookings, shipments, backlog, and project timing.
Drive Profitable Growth
  • Use contribution margin and overall profitability as key commercial decision drivers.
  • Establish pricing discipline while maintaining market competitiveness.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, Product Management, and other teams on pricing, lead times, inventory, tariffs, commissions, and major projects.
Provide Strategic Leadership
  • Serve as a key commercial advisor to the executive leadership team.
  • Provide insight into market trends, competitive activity, channel health, customer needs, and revenue risks.
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced business degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive sales leadership experience, including responsibility for a North American sales organization.
  • Demonstrated success leading multi-channel B2B sales organizations within industrial, electrical, engineered products, manufacturing, or related markets.
  • Experience managing independent sales representatives, distributors, OEMs, and strategic channel partners.
  • Proven ability to integrate sales teams, territories, product portfolios, and channel relationships.
  • Track record of delivering profitable growth and managing complex, high-value opportunities.
  • Strong understanding of forecasting, pipeline management, pricing, CRM, and sales-performance analytics.
  • Experience with Salesforce or a comparable CRM platform.
  • Experience within a private-equity-backed organization is a plus.
  • Lighting industry experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout North America.
