Job summary

Rackspace Technology is seeking a GPUaaS Sales Development Representative (SDR) to drive the front end of the GPU as a Service revenue engine. This US-based individual contributor identifies, engages, qualifies and develops prospective customers for GPUaaS, turning interest into qualified sales opportunities.

The role combines outbound prospecting with rigorous qualification, multi-channel engagement, and disciplined handoffs to Acquisition / New Pursuits sellers.

Responsibilities

  • Generate new GPUaaS demand through outbound calling, email, LinkedIn/social outreach, targeted campaigns, events, partner-supplied leads and other approved prospecting motions.
  • Respond rapidly to inbound GPUaaS inquiries and campaign responses; research the account and determine whether the prospect fits the target customer and workload profile.
  • Conduct first-level discovery to understand the customer use case, business problem, AI/HPC workload, current environment, expected GPU demand, timing, geography/data residency, buying process and urgency.
  • Identify and engage the relevant buying group, including AI/ML leaders, infrastructure/platform leaders, CTO/CIO organizations, engineering, procurement and other technical or economic stakeholders.
  • Qualify opportunities using the GPUaaS qualification framework. At minimum capture: use case/workload; GPU or accelerator preference where known; estimated GPU/cluster requirement; deployment timing; geography; term/consumption expectation; budget/economic context; decision process; incumbent/competitive environment; and next agreed customer action.
  • Disqualify or nurture opportunities that do not meet minimum criteria rather than passing low-quality leads to quota-carrying sellers.
  • Create and maintain leads, contacts, accounts and opportunities in Salesforce with complete activity history, source/attribution, qualification fields, next step, next-step date and supporting notes.
  • Own Salesforce hygiene for SDR-created records, including duplicate prevention, correct campaign/source attribution, accurate stages/status, contact roles and timely closure or recycle of stale leads.
  • Prepare a concise written handoff and schedule a live handoff when appropriate to the GPUaaS Acquisition / New Pursuits seller. Remain engaged until the seller accepts or rejects the opportunity and document the disposition.
  • Support seller follow-up on early-stage opportunities through research, additional contacts, meeting coordination, stakeholder mapping and targeted outreach as requested.
  • Build target-account and contact lists in partnership with Sales, Marketing, AMD/NVIDIA business development and channel/technology partners; execute account-based prospecting plays against priority segments and named accounts.
  • Use conversion, rejection and win/loss feedback to continuously improve messaging, qualification standards, target profiles and campaign effectiveness.
  • Participate in weekly pipeline and lead inspection, providing transparent reporting on activity, qualification status, handoffs, aging, conversion and blockers.

Job Profile Summary

The GPUaaS Sales Development Representative (SDR) is the front end of the GPU as a Service revenue engine. This US-based individual contributor is responsible for identifying, engaging, qualifying and developing prospective customers for Rackspace GPUaaS, then converting credible interest into high-quality sales opportunities for GPUaaS Acquisition / New Pursuits sellers. The role combines the proactive outbound prospecting discipline of the existing SDR profile with the stronger qualification, independent execution, multi-channel engagement and opportunity-management expectations of the Inside Sales Representative III profile.

The SDR owns initial discovery and qualification, buyer identification, early opportunity development, Salesforce data quality and disciplined handoff. Success is measured not simply by activity volume or meetings booked, but by qualified pipeline created, acceptance and conversion of SDR-sourced opportunities, speed of follow-up, data quality and contribution to GPUaaS bookings.

Role Mission

Create a repeatable, high-velocity top-of-funnel engine that identifies organizations with credible accelerated-compute demand, qualifies the business and technical opportunity, and delivers sales-ready GPUaaS pipeline to the pursuit team.

Career Level / Operating Expectations
  • Individual contributor role; no people-management responsibility.
  • Operates at a high activity cadence while maintaining a high qualification standard and strong commercial judgment.
  • Works independently within defined target-account, campaign and qualification frameworks and escalates complex technical or commercial questions to the appropriate GPUaaS specialist.
  • Partners tightly with GPUaaS Acquisition Sales, Business Development, Marketing, Partner/Alliance teams, Sales Engineering and Sales Operations.
  • Balances speed with quality: an opportunity is not considered successful simply because a meeting is scheduled; it must contain sufficient evidence to justify seller investment.
Key Responsibilities

  • Use conversion, rejection and win/loss feedback to continuously improve messaging, qualification standards, target profiles and campaign effectiveness.
  • Participate in weekly pipeline and lead inspection, providing transparent reporting on activity, qualification status, handoffs, aging, conversion and blockers.
GPUaaS Qualification Standard
  • An SDR-qualified opportunity should provide enough evidence for a New Pursuits seller to make an informed decision to invest pursuit resources. The SDR is expected to establish, to the extent reasonably available during initial discovery:
  • Customer problem and AI, inference, training, HPC or accelerated-compute workload/use case.
  • Current environment and reason the customer is considering an external GPUaaS provider.
  • GPU technology preference or requirement (for example AMD or NVIDIA) when known; workload/software dependencies and approximate scale.
  • Expected timing, deployment geography and material capacity requirements.
  • Business sponsor, technical buyer and other known decision participants.
  • Budget/economic context, procurement path and competitive alternatives where discoverable.
  • Clear customer-confirmed next step and date.
Knowledge
  • Working knowledge of GPUaaS, accelerated computing and common AI/ML workload patterns, with the ability to conduct credible first-level discovery without positioning the SDR as a solution architect.
  • Working understanding of the GPU ecosystem, including AMD, NVIDIA, OEMs, cloud/GPU infrastructure providers and relevant channel/technology partners.
  • Understanding of B2B technology prospecting, lead qualification, account research, buying committees, pipeline stages and opportunity handoff practices.
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce lead/contact/account/opportunity management and the importance of clean source
