Description

PURPOSE: To sell merchandise offered by the Goodwill Store to individuals through the use of exceptional customer service, display techniques, knowledge of the quality, characteristics, and merit of the merchandise, and approved sales techniques.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Customer Service: Promote a friendly and welcoming environment, project a positive demeanor, greet customers, treat all customers with respect, maintain positive team relationships, assist customers actively, answer calls professionally, ensure store cleanliness, resolve customer concerns, expedite transactions, process cash register transactions accurately, and thank customers for their support.
2. Understanding and Promotion of Mission: Possess and demonstrate understanding of the Goodwill Mission, communicate it effectively, and dress appropriately.
3. Merchandise Handling: Display merchandise correctly, assist customers in selecting items, distinguish colors for display, promote reasons to buy, stock efficiently, prepare merchandise for stock rotation, and ensure safety procedures are followed.
4. Store Maintenance and Safety: Report unsafe conditions, monitor for suspicious activity, assist in loading/unloading, and prepare daily sales reports.
5. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, use hands for handling, reach, push, pull, occasionally sit, kneel, stoop, throw, and lift up to 50 pounds.
6. Other Duties: Cross-train in other areas, perform related duties as directed by management.

Duties and Responsibilities

Follow policies and procedures, report store conditions and customer complaints through proper channels, and assist management in daily operations.

Relations

Work under supervision of store management and assist in training volunteers/trainees, ensuring proper conduct and store presentation, and respond to customer needs and feedback.

Performance Standards

Achieve customer service standards, sales goals, understand and promote the mission, communicate effectively, meet deadlines, demonstrate enthusiasm, maintain appearance, and perform tasks timely and accurately.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; on-the-job training provided.
• Excellent customer service skills, good work habits, punctuality, and responsiveness to supervision.
• Basic knowledge of fashion, household goods, community awareness, and ability to handle high-volume/high-stress situations.
• Physical endurance to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted and 50 lbs with assistance.
