Job summary

Camp Arcadia Inc. on Otisfield’s pristine lake seeks a Sailing Instructor to lead safe, exciting waterfront activities for campers this summer.

You will teach the fundamentals of sailing, rigging, points of sail, tacking and knot-tying, manage the fleet of small boats, and monitor water safety with calm confidence. Live in a lodge with campers as a mentor; dates run June 18 to August 15 or 26, with room, board and laundry included; Lifeguard and CPR/First Aid certifications (or arrival by June

Qualifications

Experience operating small sailboats and understanding wind mechanics
Ability to teach beginners who may be nervous on the water
Willingness to participate in all-camp events and waterfront traditions
Certifications in Lifeguard and CPR/First Aid (or arrive for training)

Responsibilities

Technical Instruction: Teach fundamentals of sailing, rigging, points of sail, tacking, jibing, knot-tying.
Fleet Management: Set up and breakdown of sailing fleet; ensure boats seaworthy.
On-Water Safety: Monitor lake conditions; provide calm instruction during capsizes or weather shifts.
Lodge Leadership: Live in a lodge with campers; mentor and foster a positive social environment.
