Job summary

Portland Yacht Services is seeking a Marine Rigger to join our Rig Shop. Our team specializes in inspection, service, repair, installation, and maintenance of sailboat rigging, spars, and related equipment.

This full-time, year‑round position offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of sailboats and projects. Ideal candidates will have strong hands-on rigging experience and a commitment to safe, high-quality workmanship.

Qualifications

• Previous professional marine rigging experience preferred.
• Hands-on experience with sailboats, line splicing, standing rigging, mast work, or marine hardware is a plus.
• Willingness to learn the marine rigging trade and work at heights.

Responsibilities

• Step and unstep masts
• Inspect standing and running rigging
• Replace and service standing rigging
• Fabricate and replace running rigging
• Splice line and prepare custom running rigging
• Install and service furling systems
• Service winches, blocks, travelers, and related sailing hardware
• Assist with mast, boom, and spar projects
• Install and replace rigging and deck hardware
• Tune sailboat rigs
• Perform seasonal commissioning and decommissioning of rigging
• Work aloft when required
• Maintain rigging tools, equipment, and work areas
• Accurately document work performed and materials used
• Follow established safety procedures
