Job summary

Portland Yacht Services in Portland, ME is seeking a Marine Rigger to join our Rig Shop. The position offers full-time year-round work on a wide variety of sailboats, from seasonal stepping and unstepping to rigging repairs and upgrades.

Ideal candidates have professional marine rigging experience or related hands-on backgrounds. We value attention to detail, proficiency with hand and power tools, and a commitment to safety and high-quality workmanship.

Qualifications

• Previous professional marine rigging experience preferred.
• Hands-on experience with sailing, boatyard, construction or fabrication.
• Comfort working at heights and with rigging hardware.
• Commitment to safe, high-quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Step and unstep masts.
• Inspect standing and running rigging; replace and service as needed.
• Fabricate and replace running rigging; splice line.
• Install furling systems; service winches and blocks.
• Assist with mast, boom, and spar projects.
• Tune sailboat rigs; perform seasonal commissioning.
• Work aloft when required; document work and materials used.
• Maintain tools and work areas; follow safety procedures.
