Job summary

CORE Midwest is seeking a full-time Construction Safety Manager to support projects across Indiana. The role leads field teams, coaches project teams, and ensures adherence to the Safety Manual.

This in-person position requires travel across multiple sites for safety oversight. The Safety Manager will perform audits, training, and stand-downs, track observations, and promote safety improvements using Procore and Predictive Solutions.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of construction safety or industrial safety supervisory experience.
• Professional Degree in Health & Safety or related field preferred.
• Must be able to pass a background check.
• OSHA 30 CHST is preferred.
• First Aid / CPR Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administers and assists trade partners to ensure safety policies are followed.
• Conducts new hire safety orientations detailing safety program requirements.
• Prepares and conducts training on health, safety, and environmental topics.
• Works with Project Managers to maintain hazard-free job sites in compliance with safety policies.
• Conducts site inspections and safety audits, communicating findings and corrective actions.
• Investigates incidents and maintains documentation for safety records.
• Coordinates emergency plans and safety-related logistics on site.

Job description

CORE Midwest is seeking a full-time Construction Safety Manager to serve our construction projects throughout Indiana. The new Safety Manager will work as a leader and coach to all our field teams, working with our project teams on several commercial construction projects, primarily for K-12 school districts, colleges, municipalities, and public safety buildings. You will act as a liaison and safety resource for the site team and support project sites by monitoring and ensuring that the employees are practicing the policies and procedures of our projects and Safety Manual. This is an in-person position with travel to multiple construction project sites. The Safety Manager will help to monitor the safety of the work necessary to complete our company’s construction projects, perform several safety audits, training, and assessment tasks, lead safety stand-downs, promote safety improvements, and track safety observations on our jobsites. Focused on the support of each team’s project safety efforts, the Manager will maintain and teach proficiency with industry technologies to both CORE’s staff as well as our trade partners and subcontractors, including Environmental Health Safety software such as Predictive Solutions and Procore. The Manager will also assist with quality control observations and tracking, and input data and observations into tracking software.

Responsibilities

• Administers, orients, and assists our trade partners to ensure safety policies and procedures are practiced following CORE’s safety program
• Conducts new hire safety orientation outlining the safety program, safety requirements, and expectations on the project site, as well as the client’s safety policies and procedures
• Prepares, coordinates, and conducts training on health, safety, and environmental-related topics to protect, improve, and maintain the employees’ and the project sites' performance, as well as comply with legislative requirements
• Works closely with Project Managers and Superintendents to provide clean, safe, secure, and hazard-free project sites in compliance with the CORE policies & procedures, as well as the Occupational Health and Safety Act
• Conducts random and scheduled project site inspections, communicates findings to ensure workplace safety, and routinely audits on-site safety compliance
• Assists supervisors in properly investigating and documenting all incidents/accidents and injuries, as well as ensuring a system is kept in place with proper documentation
• Coordinates and maintains workplace plans, such as emergency evacuations, fire emergencies, traffic controls, etc.
• Communicates information on identified hazards, precautions, and required corrective actions throughout the project site, as necessary
• Establishes and interfaces with on-site relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
• Provides guidance and expertise to field staff on health and safety issues, as well as provides consultative advice to the project sites for continuous improvement
• Keeps proper records and documents related to safety in good condition and current as per legislative requirements
• Stays abreast with current health and safety knowledge, trends, laws, and regulations
• Distributes safety material, supplies, and equipment

The position will be ON CORE jobsites throughout Indianapolis and southern Indiana.

Candidate Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of construction safety or industrial safety supervisory experience
• Professional Degree in Health & Safety or a related field (construction management, engineering, etc.) is preferred
• Must be able to pass a background check, as required by our clients
• OSHA 30 CHST is preferred
• First Aid / CPR Certified is preferred
• Strong and assertive communication skills, both written and verbal
• Basic understanding of construction drawings and floor plans
• Basic understanding of subcontractor and construction sequencing
• Technology: Experience with Microsoft Office, Procore, and Predictive Solutions
• Must work well in a team environment and be committed to client service
• Must be willing to travel throughout the state of Indiana
• A valid Driver’s License
