Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in safety, transportation, business administration, education, or related field.
  • Experience in safety, training, transportation, transit, or related operational environment.
  • Experience developing and delivering employee training programs.
  • Strong knowledge of workplace safety practices and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience conducting investigations, audits, inspections, and safety assessments.
  • Strong communication, presentation, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with operations and management teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard computer applications.
  • Ability to maintain confidential and accurate records.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings/weekends/holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver training programs for drivers, maintenance, and staff.
  • Conduct new-hire orientation, safety training, refresher training, and compliance training.
  • Ensure employees complete required training within established timelines.
  • Monitor compliance with safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Conduct safety inspections, audits, observations, and workplace assessments.
  • Investigate accidents and safety-related events and assist with corrective actions.
  • Identify safety trends and recommend improvements to reduce risks.
  • Maintain training, safety, incident, and compliance records.
  • Track employee certifications, licenses, qualifications, and training requirements.

RATP Dev USA is seeking a Safety & Training Manager to lead and support safety, compliance, and employee training programs for our transit operations in Woodfin, NC. This position is responsible for promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and company policies, and developing effective training programs for employees across the operation.

The Safety & Training Manager works closely with operations, maintenance, human resources, and management to identify safety risks, improve employee performance, and ensure employees receive the training necessary to safely and effectively perform their duties.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the location's safety and training programs.
  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver training programs for drivers, maintenance employees, and other operational staff.
  • Conduct new-hire orientation, safety training, refresher training, and required compliance training.
  • Ensure employees complete required training within established timelines.
  • Monitor compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Conduct safety inspections, audits, observations, and workplace assessments.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, injuries, and safety-related events and assist with corrective action plans.
  • Identify safety trends and recommend improvements to reduce accidents, injuries, and operational risks.
  • Maintain accurate training, safety, incident, and compliance records.
  • Track employee certifications, licenses, qualifications, and required training.
  • Partner with operations management to address employee performance and safety concerns.
  • Support drug and alcohol testing programs and other applicable compliance requirements.
  • Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, employee coaching, and safety awareness initiatives.
  • Communicate safety expectations and company policies effectively to employees at all levels.
  • Assist with emergency preparedness and response procedures.
  • Work with management to develop and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Provide regular safety and training reports to management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations or General Manager.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in safety, Transportation, Business Administration, Education, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Previous experience in safety, training, transportation, transit, or a related operational environment.
  • Experience developing and delivering employee training programs.
  • Strong knowledge of workplace safety practices and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience conducting investigations, audits, inspections, and safety assessments preferred.
  • Strong communication, presentation, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with operations and management teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard computer applications.
  • Ability to maintain confidential and accurate records.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays as operational needs require.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in public transportation, transit, or fleet operations.
  • Knowledge of FTA, FMCSA, OSHA, DOT, and ADA requirements applicable to transit operations.
  • Experience with driver training, defensive driving, accident prevention, and safety programs.
  • Experience with safety management systems and incident reporting.
  • Experience working with a diverse hourly workforce
