Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in training coordination, safety administration, construction administration, or related roles.
• Experience in construction, heavy civil, underground utilities, site development, or field-based environments preferred.
• Experience administering employee training through an LMS, safety management system, HRIS, or similar platform preferred.
• Knowledge of construction safety training requirements and familiarity with OSHA standards preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and administer Wagner Construction's employee training program across projects, locations, and classifications.

Training Coordinator – Safety & Field Operations

The Training Coordinator – Safety & Field Operations is responsible for coordinating, assigning, tracking, and maintaining employee training and qualification requirements throughout Wagner Construction. This position works closely with Safety, Operations, Human Resources, Project Management, Superintendents, Foremen, and other company leadership to ensure employees receive the training required for their position, assigned work, equipment, project, and applicable company or regulatory requirements.

The Training Coordinator will support training requirements for safety personnel including Field Safety Technicians, Site Safety and Health Officers (SSHO), and Project Health, Safety and Environmental Managers, as well as field personnel including Laborers, Operators, Foremen, Superintendents, and other craft and operations employees.

This position is responsible for maintaining an accurate company-wide training program, assigning required courses, monitoring completion and expiration dates, maintaining employee training records, identifying training deficiencies, and coordinating training necessary to keep employees qualified and prepared to safely perform assigned work.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Coordinate and administer Wagner Construction's employee training program across multiple projects, locations, and employee classifications.


• Develop and maintain training matrices by position/job classification identifying required, recommended, recurring, and project-specific training.


• Assign required training to employees based on their position, job duties, project assignment, equipment operated, and applicable safety or regulatory requirements.


• Assign and track training for field employees including Laborers, Operators, Foremen, Superintendents, and other craft personnel.


• Coordinate and track required training and certifications for Field Safety Technicians, Site Safety and Health Officers, Project HSE Managers, and other Safety Department personnel.


• Maintain accurate electronic training records, certificates, qualification records, completion dates, and expiration/renewal dates.


• Monitor upcoming training and certification expirations and proactively coordinate renewals before credentials expire.


• Identify employees who are missing required training and communicate deficiencies to employees, supervisors, Safety, Operations, and other appropriate management personnel.


• Coordinate new-hire safety orientation and ensure employees complete required initial training before being assigned applicable field responsibilities.


• Coordinate recurring and continuing safety education required by Wagner Construction policies and applicable project requirements.


• Coordinate training associated with applicable OSHA, MSHA, DOT, EM 385-1-1, First Aid/CPR, competent-person requirements, and other regulatory or project-specific requirements.


• Coordinate equipment and task-specific training as required for employees operating or working around construction equipment and performing specialized field activities.


• Work with Safety and Operations leadership to determine appropriate training requirements for specific job classifications and scopes of work.


• Coordinate with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, and Safety personnel to identify project-specific training needs before employees mobilize to a project.


• Schedule internal and external training courses, instructors, facilities, equipment, online courses, and employee attendance as required.


• Coordinate with third-party training providers and maintain documentation of externally completed training and certifications.


• Assist employees and supervisors with access to assigned online training and resolve training-system or recordkeeping issues.


• Maintain employee qualification and training records in accordance with company requirements and applicable regulatory requirements.


• Produce regular reports identifying training completion, overdue assignments, upcoming expirations, qualification gaps, and compliance status.


• Support Safety and Operations during audits by providing accurate employee training and qualification documentation.


• Verify training records and qualifications when employees transfer between projects or are assigned new responsibilities.


• Assist in developing and updating training materials, presentations, procedures, checklists, and other instructional resources.


• Maintain consistency in training requirements across Wagner Construction projects while recognizing project-specific contractual and regulatory requirements.


• Work in a fast-paced environment and manage training requirements for employees across multiple active jobsites and geographic locations.


• Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of employee training and qualification records.


• Perform additional training, safety, administrative, and compliance-related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in training coordination, safety administration, construction administration, human resources, learning and development, or a related position preferred.


• Previous experience in construction, heavy civil, underground utilities, site development, transportation, industrial construction, or another field-based environment strongly preferred.


• Experience administering employee training through a Learning Management System (LMS), safety management system, HRIS, or similar electronic training platform preferred.


• Knowledge of construction safety training requirements and familiarity with OSHA standards preferred.


• Familiarity with OSHA 10/30, First Aid/CPR, competent-person training, equipment/operator qualifications, MSHA, DOT, and EM 385-1-1 is preferred.


• Ability to understand different job classifications and assign appropriate training based on employee responsibilities and work activities.


• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a large volume of employee training assignments, certifications, expiration dates, and documentation.


• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate employee training records.


• Ability to communicate effectively with field employees, Foremen, Superintendents, Safety personnel, Project Managers, Human Resources, and company leadership.


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.


• Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a fast-paced construction environment.


• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook, and related company systems.


• Ability to learn and effectively administer company training and safety management software.


• Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with multiple departments and project locations.


• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to Wagner Construction project locations as needed.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Works primarily indoors in an office or project-site office environment with periodic work outdoors at active construction sites.


• Regularly operates a computer and other standard office equipment.


• Frequently communicates with employees and management by telephone, email, video conference, and in person.


• May travel to active construction projects to coordinate training, orientations, documentation, or employee qualification requirements.


• May work around vehicles, heavy equipment, and machinery with moving parts while visiting construction sites.


• May be exposed to harsh weather conditions, dust, exhaust fumes, and loud noise while visiting active construction projects.


• Ability to work in a number of diverse locations is pertinent, as project locations may vary.
