Job summary

ColonialWebb is seeking an experienced Safety Technician to coach and teach safety best practices, conduct site assessments, and ensure safe working conditions for employees across our projects.

The role supports a safety-first culture at ColonialWebb, coordinating with site teams, enforcing procedures, and driving corrective actions to prevent injuries in construction environments.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
• 2+ years of safety experience, preferably in construction.
• OSHA 30 certification - required.
• CSST or CHST certification is a plus; First Aid/CPR/AED certification required or in progress.

Responsibilities

• Assist site employees and management enforcing safety procedures under the Safety and Risk Program to ensure OSHA compliance.
• Coordinate site tasks to ensure safety per company policies and OSHA standards.
• Conduct site visits/inspections to verify safe operations and document practices.
• Identify corrective actions to bring sites into compliance with codes and regulations.
• Inspect safety equipment readiness and enforce accident prevention procedures.
• Assist in reporting workers’ comp and liability claims and coordinate with relevant parties.

A day in the life:

• Assist the employees and management of the site in the enforcement of the safety procedures within the Safety and Risk Program to ensure state and federal OSHA compliance in the field and reduce the risk of employee injury
• Coordinate all tasks and functions on site to ensure they are performed safely in accordance with company safety policies and procedures and OSHA standards
• Sustain safe operations by conducting site visits/inspections of facilities, work areas and equipment; observing and documentation employee work practices and improving safety preparedness
• Identify corrective actions necessary to bring job sites into compliance with applicable codes, laws, regulations, and standards, and explain these measures to others
• Inspect the availability, readiness and proper use of required accident prevention procedures, safety and fire prevention equipment, protective clothing and devices, and first aid supplies
• Recommend and follow up to verify the implementation of corrective actions
• Identify and recommend safety equipment, material and supplies for work operations
• Assist in reporting and investigating workers compensation and general liability claims on job sites; act as a liaison with workers' compensation issues
• Conduct and/or assist with job hazard analysis

You should have:

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required
• 2 or more years of safety experience required (preferably in a construction setting but not required)
• OSHA 30 certification- required
• Construction Site Safety Technician Certification (CSST) or Construction Health & Safety Technician (CHST) is a plus
• Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification required
• Ability to learn and enforce current corporate policies and procedures
• Knowledge of and ability to enforce current Federal and Virginia Occupational Safety & Health regulations
• Knowledge of and/or ability to learn and enforce current NFPA Standards applicable to work operations
• Knowledge of and/or ability to learn and enforce the current US Army Corps of Engineers Safety program
• Bilingual and train, the trainer certifications are a plus but not required
