This role is onsite, 5 days a week, in Clifton, NJ.

About the Role

The Safety Supervisor will oversee the implementation of safety protocols and procedures within the local organization, creating a safe environment for employees and minimizing accidents, injuries, and occupational hazards. The position reports to the HQ Environmental Health and Safety Manager.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain compliance with federal & state OSHA, EPA, NFPA, ANSI and other federal and state entity requirements.
• Provide relevant content and subject matter expertise to support required safety‑related training and effective implementation of safety programs.
• Support site safety goals through the implementation of safe work practices and coaching of employees and supervisors.
• Work in a team environment, sharing responsibility for injury/illness prevention, compliance assurance, safety auditing, incident investigation, and employee training.
• Collaborate with the management team and employees to instill a genuine culture of safety awareness and personal responsibility for safe behaviors and work practices.
• Assist with employee engagement efforts, including oversight of safety committees.
• Provide direct support to employees within the site, performing activities such as climbing ladders and stairs, walking and standing for long periods, working occasionally in hot and cold environments, and wearing advanced PPE.
• Enforce safety policies, conduct risk assessments, train and educate employees, inspect, audit, and monitor safety practices, investigate accidents and incidents, and maintain safety records and documentation. Collaborate with local management to stay updated on safety regulations and best practices.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in an environmental health and safety role.
• Associate degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, Industrial Safety, or related field.
• Current OSHA 10‑Hour General Industry or Construction certification.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Experience and/or familiarity with related governing agency requirements (e.g., OSHA, NFPA, EPA, DOT).
• Demonstrated communication, training, public speaking, and problem‑solving skills.
• Experience and/or familiarity with powered industrial truck driving (e.g., Forklift, Order‑picker, Reach Truck, Electric Pallet Jack).
• Experience supporting a Process Safety Management Program.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations including but not limited to air, wastewater, storm water, solid and waste management.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.
• Working knowledge of Anhydrous Ammonia refrigeration systems and associated safety protocols.

Compensation Range

• The U.S. base salary range for this full‑time position is $77,000 – $91,000.
• Eligibility for discretionary bonus, incentives, and benefits.
• Salary within the range is determined by role, level, and location.
