Job summary

The Beaver Companies are seeking a Safety Supervisor to join our growing team. This role provides safety support to construction employees at an assigned project site, with travel to Ohio and surrounding states as needed.

You will lead toolbox talks, conduct safety trainings, review policies, and ensure compliance with OSHA, MSHA and company requirements. A proactive communicator who can manage hazards and coordinate with site supervisors is essential.

Qualifications

  • OSHA 30-hour certification required
  • First Aid & CPR certification
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Must be willing to attend additional training

Responsibilities

  • May require daily, overnight, or extended travel throughout Ohio and surrounding states based on business needs
  • Site safety supervision and coordination with supervisors and employees
  • Record keeping of safety and training records
  • Review and audit safety signs, roadwork zones, and barricades
  • Deliver toolbox talks and safety training
  • Apply First Aid per company policies
  • Enforce safety policies and halt work if hazards arise

Job description

The Beaver Companies are looking for a Safety Supervisor to join our growing team. This position is responsible for providing safety support to construction employees at an assigned project site. Upon completion of the initial assignment, additional travel and project-based assignments throughout Ohio and surrounding states may be required based on business needs.

Main Job Tasks & Responsibilities:
  • Communicates with site supervisors, foremen, and employees
  • Records and submits Safety & Training Records
  • Checks for fire extinguishers, first aid, spill kits and so on
  • Reviews and audits 811-One Call markings, overhead/buried signs, electrical caution signs, barricades, work zones, road conditions and so on
  • Documents Safety Alerts, Near Misses, Accidents and Near-misses in the field
  • Conducts meetings such as training, toolbox talks and safety stand up
  • Reviews safety policies and monitors for compliance
  • Conducts training on correct procedure for air monitors
  • Creates and maintains site specific safety plans
  • Checks crane daily’s, monthly’s, CCO’s, assembly/disassembly
  • Provides employees with PPE needs and addresses safety concerns
  • Maintains all posters for BWC, OSHA and Emergency Contact
  • Conducts checks for job-site cleanliness/organization
  • Apply First Aid to employee injuries per company policies
  • Reviews and audits Job Safety Analysis (JSA)
  • Assess job site hazards and is responsible for halting work until a problem or situation is corrected per the OSHA, MSHA, Customer or Beaver requirements
  • Demonstrates initiative and professionalism

Skills & Requirements:
  • Interest in construction and/or industrial safety
  • Familiar with applicable health and safety requirements of all governing legislation
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills
  • OSHA 30-hour certification -required
  • Certified in First Aid & CPR
  • Must be willing to attend additional training, as needed
Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Refinery experience- preferred
  • OSHA 500/510-hour certification- preferred
  • College degree in Environmental Health and Safety or similar program -a plus
  • MSHA Certification -a plus
  • Traffic Control Certification -a plus
Travel:

This position is initially assigned to a specific project site. Future project assignments may require daily, overnight, or extended travel throughout Ohio and surrounding states based on business needs.
