An established industry player is seeking a dedicated safety professional to enhance contractor safety performance in the utility sector. This role involves monitoring and evaluating safety practices, conducting incident investigations, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. You will be trusted to:
- Monitor, review, evaluate and report on contractor safety performance
- Maintain the contractor safety management system and oversee the contractor safety program
- Develop, review and update the contractor safety performance and metrics, ensuring clear communication of safety requirements
- Plan and host the monthly and annual contractor safety meetings and participate in contractor orientations, roundtables, and regional meetings
- Oversee contractor safety and provide safety & health insights
- Assist in the onboarding, ongoing support, and offboarding of contractors
- Perform incident investigations. including documentation, tracking and reporting
- Travel may be required to various locations (power plants, right of ways, dams, water systems, etc.), potentially including overnight stays as scheduled.
You qualify with:
- Six or more years of experience in safety and health, utility safety to include water, gas operations, energy generation, electric utility transmission and distribution operations or other relevant experience. Experience must include at least two or more years of direct safety team experience within an organization to include experience with administration, oversight or applying work safety practices, policies and procedures. Experience must include at least two years of experience with ANSI, OSHA 1910.268, IEEE C95.6-2002, DOT standards and applicable work practices and safety policies. A degree(s) in industrial maintenance, electrical systems, occupational safety and health, public health or related field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
- Driver’s license
You are a great fit with:
- Prior experience in construction, utility or energy sector safety contractor compliance role including providing prequalification, guidance, evaluation, formal/informal instruction to contractor operational staff
- ASP, CSP, GSP, SMS, OHST, CSM, CUSP or CSHO preferred
- Proficient knowledge of regulatory reporting and recordkeeping (OSHA 1910/1926.269, ANSI, EPA, etc.)
- Knowledge of Safety Management Systems
