Responsibilities

• Advise on provisions to minimize safety risks
• Conduct safety inspections and compliance for OSHA and DOT
• Train crews on current HSE practices and policies
• Prepare reports on observations and incidents
• Maintain records of safety-related incidents
• Ensure Safety databases are up to date
• Complete safety pre-qualifications for clients
• Communicate with senior personnel on safety needs
• Monitor compliance and identify safety issues
• Intervene in unsafe activities
• Report to PGS Safety Director

Skills

Proven experience as safety specialist in the power construction industry

In-depth knowledge of OSH guidelines and practices

Required: ET&D or Civil Safety: 5-10 years

Key Duties

• Advise on provisions to minimize safety risks
• Conduct safety inspections, observations, investigations and regulatory compliance for OSHA and DOT
• Communicates, coaches and trains crews on the current HSE work practices and rules, policies and procedures.
• Prepares reports for management team reviews on observations pertaining to work activities, investigations, employee injuries/property/utility damage incidents.
• Keep detailed records of safety-related incidents and propose corrective actions
• Keep Safety databases up to date with current information as clients require. ISnet, Veriforce, and Avatta to name a few.
• Complete any safety pre-qualifications required by potential clients
• Communicate daily with Gridtech senior personnel, superintendents on safety needs/requirements
• Collaborate with managers to monitor compliance and identify safety issues
• Intervene in unsafe activities or operations
• Liaise with and report to PGS Safety Director on OSH matters
• Other duties as assigned.
