Job Description

AECOM is currently pursuing an experienced Safety Specialist to support various projects located within the New York, NY area. The Safety Specialist will support its Construction Management Teams working in the NYC Metropolitan area on public transit and commuter rail systems.

Responsibilities include:

1. Perform moderately complex technical work in a wide range of environmental, safety and health disciplines to achieve compliance with ES&H standards along with federal and state regulatory requirements.
2. Maintain current knowledge of specific government agency requirements.
3. Exhibit knowledge and apply the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of their environmental specialty.
4. Independently determine and develop approaches to solutions.
5. Develop, implement, and maintain safety and health programs, systems, and procedures. Monitor and prevent hazards and diseases in the work area.
6. Investigate accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning hazards in the workplace.
7. Recommend improvements in processes, design, procedures, and operating equipment to minimize hazards.
8. Develop and conduct employee training, emergency preparedness, and assure the quality of programs.
9. Provide regulatory interpretation and technical advice.
10. May act as a lead role for a team of ES&H specialists and/or support personnel. May administer an ES&H program on a small or medium-sized project.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree plus 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Due to the projects associated with this position, US Citizenship is required.

Transit and Transportation Experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

5 plus years of MTA NYC transit experience.

Proficient with Corporate safety rules and programs.

Experience with reviewing safe-work plans.

Experienced in conducting tool-box meetings.

Additional Information

Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position. Relocation is not available for this position. Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $90,412.00 - $167,262.00.
