About The Role
The Safety & Training Specialist position is responsible for providing field safety support and training to Northeast team members within a defined geographic area. The position performs field-level safety observations and coaches team members on hazard identification, risk reduction, and appropriate work methods. The Safety & Training Specialist identifies training opportunities related to general safety, regulatory compliance, and skilled work methods and coordinates trainings with IBEW Local halls and United Utility internal training resources. The specialist also leads safety investigation efforts for the assigned area and works closely with operational supervision to formulate best practices and corrective actions that reduce risk and manage human error.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. but this position must be available to support field employees based on their schedule. This position occasionally requires long hours and weekend work. MUST be willing to travel to fulfill normal job duties.
Travel
This position may require travel overnight to support field safety observations and support of crews. Out of area and overnight travel will be dictated by power outages and damage due to emergent events such as ice storms or out of area hurricanes, tornados, etc.
