Job summary

Vegaamericas is seeking a Health & Safety Specialist to create and execute safety plans, train employees on safety practices, and ensure compliance with OSHA standards. This role involves conducting safety inspections, managing safety training, and preparing reports on safety metrics.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, 3+ years of experience, and OSHA 30 Certification.

• Minimum 3 years of related experience or a combination of education and experience.
• OSHA 30 Certification is required.

Job description

We are looking for a Health & Safety Specialist to join our growing Team!

What you’ll do:

• Create and implement safety plans/programs in accordance with OSHA Standards.
• Train employees in worksite safety practices by promoting and leading a site culture where safety is ingrained as a core value.
• Perform safety inspections of the production floor.
• Perform audits of the written safety program.
• Investigate accidents and near misses. Provide corrective actions.
• Perform JSA and LOTO assessments.
• Train new employees on JSA for their respective areas.
• Maintain chemical inventory list.
• Ensure SDS sheets are current and up to date for all departments in IQS.
• Evaluate and assign all annual safety training needs for all VEGA employees.
• Manage Safety Skills platform.
• Maintain OSHA 300A log, report electronically through OSHA annually.
• Monitor subcontractors’ safety and compliance.
• Prepare and present reports on safety metrics.
• Ensure that employees consistently follow safety protocols.
• Coordinate and run the emergency response team.
• Manage direct seller PPE kits and Respirator Program.
• Manage hearing conservation program.
• Assist with annual fire and severe weather drills.
• Manage UniFirst first aid and safety cabinets.
• Ensure all training is kept up to date for lift truck drivers, ERT, Respirators, Hearing conservation, etc.

What you need:

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety or related field
• 3+ years of related experience
• or a combination of education and experience related to the position
• OSHA 30 Certification
