Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Safety Specialist to support Project Engineers with day-to-day safety enforcement on the jobsite. You will spend most of your time in the field, monitoring construction activities, identifying hazards, and collaborating with subcontractors and field teams to maintain a safe work environment.

The role requires at least 3 years of construction safety experience, OSHA 30, and familiarity with EM 385-1-1.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of construction safety experience on federal, mission-critical, or large civil projects.
• OSHA 30 certification required.
• Knowledge of EM 385-1-1 preferred.
• Experience with field inspections, AHAs/pre-task planning, subcontractor oversight, corrective actions.
• Experience with excavation, heavy equipment, lifting, traffic control, and related field hazards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an active field presence, observing ongoing construction activities and identifying potential safety hazards.
• Conduct routine jobsite safety inspections and document observations, deficiencies, and corrective actions.
• Work directly with subcontractor crews and field supervision to ensure compliance with project safety requirements and procedures.
• Monitor high-risk construction activities and verify PPE and safety controls are used.
• Assist with daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, pre-task planning, and job hazard analyses.
• Support the investigation and documentation of safety incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
• Track identified safety deficiencies and follow up with field teams to ensure corrective actions are completed.
• Maintain required safety documentation, inspection records, reports, and other project safety materials.
• Reinforce a proactive safety culture by coaching field personnel and addressing unsafe conditions.
• Provide additional field coverage as project expands.

Job Description

The Safety Specialist will be responsible for supporting the Project Engineers with the day-to-day implementation and enforcement of project safety requirements. This individual will spend the majority of their time in the field actively monitoring construction activities, identifying potential hazards, and working with subcontractors and field teams to maintain a safe jobsite.

Day to day

• Maintain an active presence in the field, observing ongoing construction activities and identifying potential safety hazards or unsafe work practices.


• Conduct routine jobsite safety inspections and document observations, deficiencies, and corrective actions.


• Work directly with subcontractor crews and field supervision to ensure compliance with project safety requirements and established safety procedures.


• Monitor high-risk construction activities and verify appropriate safety controls and PPE are being utilized.


• Assist with daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, pre-task planning, and job hazard analyses.


• Support the investigation and documentation of safety incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.


• Track identified safety deficiencies and follow up with field teams and subcontractors to ensure corrective actions are completed.


• Assist with maintaining required safety documentation, inspection records, reports, and other project safety materials.

Skills and Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of construction safety experienceo Federal, mission critical, or large civil commercial experience works (Residential experience will not work)


• OSHA 30


• Working knowledge of EM 385-1-1 preferred


• Experience with field inspections, AHAs/pre-task planning, subcontractor oversight, corrective actions, excavation, heavy equipment, lifting, traffic control, and similar field hazards


• Electrical project experience
