Job summary

Tensor, an American Physical AI company in San Jose, is hiring a safety research specialist to advance Level-4 autonomous driving safety. You will conduct rigorous statistical analyses, define performance metrics, and collaborate with engineering teams to develop safety frameworks for next-generation autonomous systems.

Candidates should hold a master’s degree in a relevant field and demonstrate strong communication skills, data-driven decision-making, and experience with Python/R/SQL and safety

Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in transportation engineering, statistics, biomedical engineering and mechanics, mechanical engineering, vehicle engineering, physics, etc.
• Proven experience in analyzing safety with statistics, probability theory or data science.
• Proficient in quantitative analysis and modeling tools, and experience with Python/R/SQL.
• Experience with safety standards including ISO26262, ISO 21448, and UL 4600.
• Strong technical communication skills and teamwork spirit.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research on safety goal, standards, and Safety Performance Metrics (SPI) for Level-4 autonomous driving;
• Identify, collect and analyze statistical data of human driving performance metrics;
• Develop methods for evaluating the safety of autonomous driving;
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop safety system frameworks.
