Job summary

Sheakley is seeking a Field Construction Safety Representative to support plumbing and mechanical construction on the Vanderbilt University campus in Nashville, TN. The 12+ month, 1099 contractor role requires hands-on safety field presence and daily safety observations.

You will conduct site inspections, review safety docs, coach craft personnel, and help investigations while ensuring OSHA standards are followed across plumbing and mechanical activities.

Qualifications

• OSHA 30 Construction Certification required.
• Minimum 3+ years of commercial construction safety experience.
• Ability to maintain a strong field presence.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily field safety support for plumbing and mechanical construction activities.
• Maintain a highly visible presence throughout active work areas.
• Conduct routine site inspections, safety observations, audits, and hazard assessments.
• Review JHAs, pre-task plans, permits, and applicable safety documentation.
• Identify unsafe conditions and communicate findings to field supervision.
• Track observations and support corrective action follow-up.
• Provide field coaching and reinforce safe work practices with craft personnel.
• Support project safety meetings and toolbox talks.
• Assist with incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Maintain required inspection records, observations, and safety reports.
• Support compliance with OSHA and project-specific safety requirements.

Compensation & Schedule

Pay Rate: $56/hr
Per Diem: None
Completion Bonus: $150/month
Pay Frequency: Weekly
Schedule: Monday-Friday | 1st Shift | 40 Hours Per Week
