The AES Group is seeking a Safety Performance Engineer in Auburn Hills, Michigan (onsite). You will lead safety development activities for vehicle programs, set safety targets, and oversee test plans from concept to launch.

Responsibilities include coordinating with CAE teams for virtual validation, supporting regulatory requirements, and guiding cross-functional teams to address safety issues across vehicle disciplines. Travel to proving grounds may be required.

Role Name: Safety Performance Engineer

Job Description

The Safety Performance Engineer is responsible for leading safety development activities for assigned vehicle programs to ensure all identified safety functional objectives are achieved. The role supports impact script development, identifies design enablers, and executes component and full-vehicle test plans.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead safety development activities, including safety target setting and vehicle-level test plan execution.
• Support vehicle crash regulatory requirements and third-party safety ratings.
• Support vehicle integration and validation by owning safety performance activities.
• Lead attribute teams, support safety technical clubs, and execute vehicle program requests.
• Influence vehicle designs and investigate issues to determine root causes.
• Prepare appropriate documentation for issue resolution.
• Lead cross-functional teams when safety issues involve multiple vehicle disciplines.
• Manage physical and component testing, including planning, vehicle builds, pre-test preparation, and execution from concept through launch.
• Collaborate with CAE teams on virtual validation assessments.
• Travel as needed to proving-ground facilities for vehicle testing.
• Demonstrate strong technical acumen, communication skills, and organizational abilities.
