Job summary

Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital in Virginia Beach, VA seeks a Safety Partner to support a safe ED environment for at-risk patients. This part-time role covers 7a–7p on Mon and Tue, joining a 41-bed Level III Trauma ED with extensive patient care responsibilities.

Ideal candidates bring healthcare exposure and a passion for patient safety, de-escalation, and teamwork within a busy emergency department.

Qualifications

• High School Grad or Equivalent.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• Healthcare experience preferred; MH/behavioral health background a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support safety-focused care and de-escalation in the ED setting.

Overview

Sentara Virginia Beach GH Emergency Department is hiring a Safety Partner to join their team!

Unit Description

This is a 41-bed Level III Trauma ED with 6 beds dedicated to a lock down psychiatric screening and treatment area. We are a stroke certified ED and receive STEMI and psychiatric patients. The ED treats about 150 patients per day with a dedicated radiology suite in the ED for plain film and CT imaging. We have a diverse nursing and ED Tech team.

Job Description

Assists with the provision of a safe hospital environment conducive to individualized patient care for patients at risk of suicide, falls, wandering, agitation, impulsiveness, self-harm or other risk behaviors enabling patients to maintain or enhance function during the hospital stay.

Education

High School Grad or Equivalent

Certification/Licensure

BLS required within 90 days of hire.

Experience

Prior healthcare experience or enrollment in a health sciences program strongly preferred. Background with mental health/behavioral health is a plus! Core competencies for all safety partners to include communication, confidentiality, de-escalation, fall prevention, patient safety, restraints, stroke, and suicide.

Compensation

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $17.82 - $25.65 hourly.

Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
