Position Description

Position Summary

This is a 1st Shift Position. The employee works four ten-hour shifts per week, from 6am to 4pm, every-other weekend (Fri-Mon). Responsibilities include campus security patrols (by vehicle and on foot), responding to medical and emergency calls, opening buildings, providing safe-ride services, enforcing university policies, conducting criminal investigations, engaging with faculty, staff, and students, and interacting with all community members in a Christ-like manner.

Education Required

High school diploma or equivalent

Education Preferred

Associate or Bachelor's degree

Experience Required

One year of employment in safety/security or emergency services, preferably in higher education.

Experience Preferred

  • 2 years law enforcement/security experience
  • 2 years emergency services experience
  • First Aid/CPR/AED and Stop the Bleed Certifications
  • 1 year customer-service experience
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word & Excel

Special Working Conditions

Must be physically and mentally capable of walking, standing, pushing, pulling, lifting (40 lbs), dragging 150 lbs, and enduring weather conditions. Willing to work different shifts, weekends, holidays, and some mandatory overtime. Must submit Hepatitis B immunization documentation. As an essential employee, must report during emergencies regardless of weather.

Driving Requirements

Operation of university vehicles required; must have and maintain a valid driver's license per university policies.

Primary Duties

  • Campus patrols (vehicle, bike, foot)

  • Investigate and document campus crimes
  • Manage traffic during events
  • Respond to incidents and emergencies, including medical calls
  • Conduct safety escorts and liaise with law enforcement
  • Provide safety and security training
  • Maintain reliable attendance
