Sheakley Workforce Staffing is seeking a Safety Manager for a long-termHVAC, plumbing, and mechanical construction project at the Hitachi Transformers facility in South Boston, VA. This role combines hands-on safety leadership with coordinating with project leadership to ensure safe, compliant work.

The ideal candidate will have a strong field presence, perform JHAs and PTAs, lead toolbox talks, and drive incident investigations while maintaining safety documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Safety or related field and 5+ years of construction experience.
• 10+ years of full-time construction safety experience and OSHA 500 Certification.
• CHST Certification and 5+ years of construction experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily safety oversight for HVAC, plumbing and mechanical construction.
• Conduct toolbox talks and safety communications.
• Assist with JHAs, Pre-Task Plans (PTPs), and work planning.
• Conduct site inspections, audits, observations, and hazard assessments.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and project safety requirements.
• Identify unsafe conditions and coordinate corrective actions.
• Provide field coaching and reinforce safe work practices with craft personnel.
• Coordinate safety activities with project management, supervision, and subcontractors.
• Participate in incident investigations and corrective action implementation.
• Maintain required safety documentation, inspection records, and compliance reports.
• Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the project.

Location: South Boston, VA
Duration: Up to 2 Years (Start: January 2027)
Type: 1099 Contractor

Compensation & Schedule

Pay Rate: $56/hr (Local Candidates) OR $52/hr + $140/day Per Diem (Travelers)
Overtime: Available as project demands require
Per Diem: $140/day (Non-Local Candidates)
Completion Bonus: $150/month
Pay Frequency: Weekly
Schedule: Monday-Thursday | Four 10-Hour Shifts | 40 Hours/Week
Additional Schedule Details: Schedule is subject to change as project activity increases throughout the life of the project.
